King James was the birth son of Mary, Queen of Scots, a catholic, but was raised, then later adopted and made heir to the English throne by Queen Elizabeth the Great of England, a Protestant. Elizabeth was the daughter of Henry VIII, who broke with the Papacy and founded the Church of England with the English Monarch as it's head. James abolished the Vulgate and had the Bible re-written as the King James Bible so that it would support the C of E rather than the Roman Catholics. Opposing the Papacy was, at that time, a political necessity, England's two most power full rivals, Spain and France, were both Catholic.

King James was a Protestant. He was against the Papacy because as the head of the Church of England he was affectively the "Pope" of the Anglican Church. He didn't want to give up that kind of power by admitting the truth.

Protestant. That's why he's against the papacy. After Henry VIII pulled the English Church out from the Roman governance, the monarch on the throne in England became the head of the Church of England. Queen Mary tried to return the English church back under Rome's purview, but it didn't work. Luther had translated the bible in German for the Lutherans, and the English finally got their native-tongue Bible under the direction of King James.

Not sure which King James you mean.
The one in the question must have been a Protestant if he was against the papacy.
You have the answer to your second question right there.

King James was protestant. He was against the papacy because he believe that no one comes between man and Jesus.
BTW..not that it matters, or that people even care, but King James was a Direct descendent of King David of Judea.

King James 1st was Protestant, the biggest religious upheaval of his monarchy was bnetween teh Episcopal and Presbyterian church in Scotalnd. In 1635 he issued a royal warrant authorising a new set of clerical rules—the Book of Canons—to be published the following year. These new rules began by emphasising royal supremacy over the Church of Scotland and, in one of the most remarkable assertions of this supremacy, required the Church to accept a new Liturgy or Service Book sight unseen to replace the Book of Common Order, in use since the Reformation.
He wanted a single church for his new United Kingdom of England and Scotland.

He was a Protestant. He was the son of Mary the Queen of Scotland who was a Catholic. Mary and Elizabeth were cousins. Elizabeth rigged up a relationship with an English fop for Mary and she fell for it. She married the guy and they had their son who Elizabeth nabbed and brought to England and raised as a Protestant in the Anglican Church. Everything he believed was propaganda fed him by Elizabeth who, if you remember correctly, was the daughter of Henry the VIII who split from the Catholic Church because he couldn't marry whoever he wanted at any time he wanted by divorcing or beheading the current wife.

I'm not sure if King james was protestant or not. He was against the papacy because we should not follow a man for our salvation, save Jesus Christ, who was/is Divine in nature. Scripture declares " Cursed be the man who putteth his trust in man" (Jer. ch. 17). Put all your faith in Jesus alone, who IS God in the flesh.
As a former catholic, I know it is dangerous to put your trust in man. If any church or "holy" man could convince you that your salvation was in his hands, you would do anything for him. That is what the catholic church has done. Through lies , deception and a strong arm, it has billions of people in bondage.
folks, your salvation comes directly from the throne of heaven, not a church or a "holy" man. Put your trust ONLY in God, through Jesus Christ, and you shall be saved.
