When charcoal is ready for the meat, the coals will be a powder gray to light gray on top and red on the bottom. This is the best time to put on the meat. The meat drippings will create the smoke flavor that makes all meats cooked on a charcoal grill worth the wait. Enjoy!

if you bought kingsford, it will tell you on the bag. but if not, wait until the charcoal turns a light grey, almost white color. usually takes about 15 minutes once you light them. good luck!

When the flames have died down and the coals are almost white. This is when they are ready to cook on and do the best job. Good luck to you.
