I am sure that there are Doctors that would but the fact is that there is too much money involved by the pharmaceutical companies to just throw-out a cure. It would be nice though.

Of course they want cures. The treatments cost a lot of money.
Humanity strives to better itself through knowledge, thats why they do research. The do ask questions and they are interested, I dont know where you got the idea they arent from. They know what causes a great many illnesses, but knowing the cause does not automatically mean they know how to cure it.
Cancer is a very complicated disease, a lot of research goes on all over the world and this is how we do now have better cancer survical rates than we did say 20 years ago.
The people who do the research come from all different kinds of scientific backgrounds, each bringing different knowledge and experience to the research.
The money raised by charities goes into many many different areas of the research.
For example, teams are sent to collect plant specemins for study, many modern medicines are derived from plants, the equipment in the lab costs money, developing and testing drugs, paying the scientists wages, running costs of the labs, electricity etc. The money raised is well spent, but there is so much more needed.
The problem is that not many people want to be guinea pigs for drug testing, so scientists have to use cell cultures, tissue samples and animals to test on. All this takes time, hence more money.
i think a cure for cancer is the most important research to be done, its so widespread, casued by so many different things, and its a bloody awful way to die.

I am pretty sure that they want to find a cure for these. Doctors became doctors to help people not see them die. If a cure was found it would not mean people wre no longer sick as people have loads of other problems too. Doctors will always have a job to do.
I do not think that the big drug companies do not want a cure either. They would still be making money as they would be supplying the drugs for the cure.
The results of research are published i medical journals. The popel doing the research would be doctors, pharmasists and qualified scientists.

They do research into molecules and organisms that can be used to attack or heal the source of the problem.
The problem is that if it was up to the scientists we'd probably be close toa cure by now but as most work for pharmaceutical which see curing major world problems as bad for business.
Just read up on how the governments had to fight Roche to get supplied with Tamiflu, the current only effective treatment for bird flu. The company wanted huge amounts of money for it and would have happily let people die first.

There is a lot of research going on. Want to check it out
all you need to do is a Yahoo/Google search by entering
"Parkinsons disease" and choose the site of your choice.
Cancer, leave it for latter as it is much more complex
unless you have a specific question.

Jet 6581 is right. Big corporations make money from the ill, wars, famine, etc. If everyone was at peace or cured from previously life threatening/altering illnesses they would have no income. Can't have that now, can we. There are probably one or two good doctors out there still.

They do want to find a cure.
Do some reading and see the advances that are being made in treating these diseases. It is some pessimistic people that would lead you to believe that no gains are being made.
