If as you say that god created evil then why it is that when we do evil deeds we are told we will end up in hell?

My idea of god doesn't distinguish a good or evil. Neither exist.

I guess if I had to answer in this scenario.....All that is good would mean that we are capable of creating our own heavens...All that is evil is our capabilities of creating our own hells.

I was always taught that God made us in His image. That means we should embody His virtues. But, He also gave us free will--the ability to choose right or wrong, evil or good. It's up to us how we decide. While I may not practice my faith, I consider myself faithful. However, I also see the question as one of the laws of physics that God created--for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Therefore, if there is good, there is evil.

At my age (mid 50's) I'm tired of trying to apply all the philosophy and theology I learned over the years. I either attended, graduated, or worked in colleges that ranged from Catholic to Presbyterian to Methodist that preached basically the same thing but with a different prejudice. I prefer to think at this point, that God has a sense of humor. He knows in advance we're going to make mistakes, but he's constantly amused by what paths we take getting there. He loves us, he accepts us, and he'll take us back when we're ready to acknowledge we don't know everything.

Because for life to exist, in any form, there has to be balance ..... physical, emotional and in the very laws of nature. This balance is epitomised in humans as 'free will' ..... our ability to choose how we act in every way. And with the capacity to choose comes the capacity to make bad choices .... being good naturally is not an intrinsic human trait and some people simply choose not to be good. That is because it is simply an option .... we have many options to follow as humans ... some call it chaos ... and as we know, from chaos evolves evil.

When God created mankind he created us perfect. It was only by man's disobedience that sin & death were introduced into our make-up, our genes (ROMANS 5:12)
From then on, we have a natural tendency toward doing bad, it's because of our sinful flesh. To do good is a struggle for us, we lean toward doing bad. But if we follow the guidance from God we can win in this struggle.

As for hellfire:-
There is no such place as a fiery hell.
A loving God wouldn't invent such a place
The word is mistranslated & means the common grave of mankind
What does the Bible say the penalty for sin is?
Rom. 6:23: “The wages sin pays is death.”
After one’s death, is he still subject to further punishment for his sins? - No
Rom. 6:7: “He who has died has been acquitted from his sin.”
Is eternal torment of the wicked compatible with God’s personality?
Jer. 7:31: “They [apostate Judeans] have built the high places of Topheth, which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, in order to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire, a thing that I had not commanded and that had not come up into my heart.” (If it never came into God’s heart, surely he does not have and use such a thing on a larger scale.)
Illustration: What would you think of a parent who held his child’s hand over a fire to punish the child for wrongdoing? “God is love.” - (1 John 4:8) Would he do what no right-minded human parent would do? Certainly not!
To teach that God would torment people forever in a fiery hell is misrepresenting God. He is a God of love

God created man in his own image according to the bible. So he is the root of all our goodness and evil making him just as flawed as anyone else, like having a son via another man's wife which happens all the time.

But as a footnote man came from apes, Dawnkins; The God Delusion is recommended reading.

Your assertion is not a good foundation for your question. It begs the question of where human beings came from.

I suggest you find Alan Watts' The Book and see if you might find an interesting answer there.

We humans have wonderful potential, and he knows it. It is up to us to choose if we do evil in whatever form, it's part of the plan!
