... when reheated the day after it was cooked? For example, cooked a cottage pie on Saturday, ate half and reheated the other half on Sunday ... and it tasted so much better. Why is this?

So good with bolognaise, cassorole and chilli also, as the flavours soak in it make the food yummy yummy in my tummy. Leftovers can be great after all! Suppose it's like marinade, as that gets left for hours or over night.

That is a taught method from birth and beyond, we are taught to believe cooked food is more tastier, if we were brought up on raw food and someone gave it us cooked we would say, why does raw food taste better then cooked food.

Perhaps because you only eat food that needs to be cooked.
In tropical countries there are both, and you can survive very
well eating only uncooked food.

i suppose its a bit like marinading, and you have to do that overnight so its absorbed properly. I love second day homemade soup !
