Sounds like you have Psoriasis. I have it too and there is unfortunately no cure. It's a genetic skin disease and is not contagious. There is a shot on the market now called Enbrel that has promising outcomes, but it is a bit expensive. I use a lotion which contains Aloe and Cucumber - you can buy it at Wal-greens or any pharmacy store, and it is very inexpensive. Just apply it 3 times a day and it will help to heal the damaged skin and control the itch. Good luck!

You do not mention which part of your body-if its the feet esp on the sides it can be more than just dry skin but a form of atletes foot and only medication made for athletes foot will get rid of it but will take several-days to get rid of. Also if you are NOT drinking Water then your skin will not be hydrated and be dry so 6-8 glases a day,can be flavored water. Also try NIVEA Cream for dry skin-works a bit faster than Vaseline also AVEENO Lotion for very dry skin works and smells terrific but a bit more -approx $8.00 but it does work--If you;ve tried either of these products and see no improvement within a week then may bemore than just dry skin and would be a beneficial to see a DERMATOLOGIST(Skin Doctor) who can determine exactly what it is and prescribe the best product, they also give out great samples

Just using vaseline is not going to do much if you don't exfoliate your skin before you put it on. A loofah sponge and some really moisturizing body wash FIRST should help, then use vaseline if you like to reduce dryness. Personally, I would recommend a creamy, gentle lotion like Curel or Lubriderm instead of vaseline. Petroleum based products like vaseline can actually irritate your skin, especially if you are allergic to petroleum products.

You need to hydrate your body. For your skin to not be scaly. You have damaged your skin by not taking in enough water AND over exposure to elements. Avoid baths, showers only. Use a loofah sponge to aid in removing dry skin (dont try to take it all off at one time. Do NOT take an extremely hot shower as this will cause more damage. Add mosisturizer before you dry off, pat yourself dry. Drink lots of water. Within two-three days you will have repaired skin.

its the wrong thing to do.
first figure out why its dry. a dermatologist if you can afford it is best. if dry skin runs in your family a good dry skin beauty routine now is best.
bad diet and certain health problems can cause skin changes..
scaly makes me think of psoriasis or lack of vitamin k to start...
cetaphil or the genereic is non soap cleanser ownt dry skin avoid long or ahot baths/
water warm or cool for dry skin and hair only.
use mouisturizer make sure it says "non comedegenic" again lubriderm and nutriderm and cetaphil brands and their generics
vasilene can clog pores and casue pimples and more.. ok for lips with no pores not skin.
asl o prevention magaxzine and books have researched tested info you can rely on.
if you have severe dry skin, even if your young, use the beauty routine reccomended for an older woman 40-50.
beware of fads and info in ads.
