If no one would remember you, you haven't started living yet.

The native Americans believed that as long as you were remembered you lived on. Therefore, they tried to do great deeds so that they would be remembered through the stories of their great deeds. I have been around for a while and what I have found is that I used to be very religious, but religion for me has not lived up to the promises that were made. So I have come to realize that if you are trying to pursue happiness it is illusive as a butterfly. Therefore, you have to just kind of sit there and let it light on you like the illusive butterfly does eventually. The secret is to give and not expect to receive. Soon you begin to realize who you are and what your here for. There is no god who cares about each hair on your head. You are subject to the forces of the Universe everyday living in it, which can toss you around like a boat in a storm, and there will not be anyone coming to raise his magic hands and stop the storm. Great forces, that can destroy worlds, and you have no control over any of it. But if you go through life giving and not caring about receiving there is a point where it all makes sense. It is the journey, not the destination. Each day becomes a new experience and the joy is seen in the faces of others. Then, in a very strange sense, you will be remembered, and you will live long after you have passed into oblivion.

I would say that the point of living is reaching a level of self-understanding that liberates you from feelings of insecurity about yourself.

The fact is that you may not be remembered in the way that you want to be. In fact, you probably won't be, but does that determine whether life is worth living? There may be no point to living for you if you can't have the life that you want, but should that stop us from living altogether? Is there worth beyond the point of life?

Can life be boiled down to one point? I personally don't believe so. If it can, than I think that there would be no point to it. I won't be remembered by many people. You probably won't even remember beyond a few days or even hours. But that doesn't mean that I cease to matter, even in the face of an infinite universe that makes me anonymous.

An individual finds their own worth by placing themselves above the singular ideas of life that take the soul captive and reduce humanity to nothing but a body with a brain that happened by random chance. If we are the result of random chance, than we must rise to a position of fame or recognition to feel any purpose to life. But I do not believe that we are such an accident.

if you werent meant to live God would not have created you everyone has some reason for living you may not think so when you are really down but there is always someone that will remember you it may be the simplest thing that you did little things mean alot more than people give them credit for dont ever think you are not worth remembering be happy and be proud of yourself even if all you can offer a sad person is a smile sometimes that means more than the big things have a good day and dont be so down on yourself

if being remembered is an issue for you, then think to live your life in a way that will impact the future.. step up and take a stand on an issue of importance... the bigger the issue, the more effort and energy you put into it, the more likely you will be remembered

or you could do something really horrific and outrageous... that often gains folks a note in the annals of history as well

and if that doesn't float your boat, just enjoy the ride... be kind to yourself and others and just wait for the end to come

This is a nihilistic argument. Nihilistic people are pretty depressing people. The point of living is to make a difference here while you live here. You will be remembered if you go and do something to help others.

Vanity is the sin that I like most.
Why would you like to be remembered for? Have you done something real useful in your life, something that changed in better somebody else life? Have you ever think about how many generation of people (with their genetic combinations) you are carrying inside of your cells? Who can remember them? Maybe you are the only one, because you are a proof that they existed!

ive ben debating over that issue too....my firnd thought i was suicidal for saying that. If u want to be remember then do something. volunteer at a community or a cause or something. If not, then whatever, you can still try to live if u want. I don't encourage suicide...even though i happen to be a bit suicidal because i think about death....

lemme know with path you choose

Who says you won't be remembered?
And anyway, isn't living a life some how, some way, worth it in & of itself?
And I disagree w/ "To send/spread god's word"--God can spread his/her own word.
Be selfish--live life on your own terms & enjoy the hell out of it. ;)

quit wasting your time on other people. you seem to care too much what other people think. live for yourself and enjoy life as much as possible even when it sucks. besides, even if you're not remembered - why should you care since you're dead?
