Wow that's really selfish. No reputable doctor would give her a C-section just because she doesn't want to push out a bigger baby C-sections cost a lot of money and they also carry risks just like with any other surgeries, so doctor's dont do them just because someone asks.

* people, I dont think she's saying her baby weighs 6lbs now. She's asking how she can make it so that she has a 6lb baby, because she wants a small baby.

how can you truly determine a baby's weight during pregnancy? 6lb is a lot for 5mo. maybe she is more than 5mo. the doctor can be wrong about the that, it's happened before. did you make sure it's only one baby? maybe there are two??? ;) she should let the pregnancy go through for however long it takes, and if she is really that concerned about the baby's weight then she should discuss that with the doctor. only the doctor should decide whether c-section is necessary. that's why they are doctors. you can't choose the birth method. what you can choose is whether or not you want an epidermal. I've decided i don't.

You people that say a 6 pound baby is not healthy are crazy. My daughter was 6 lb 3oz and she was perfectly healthy.

But they are right that you can't do anythign to control the babies weight. Just tell her to eat right and drink lots of water to keep her from gaining to much weight and she'll have a better chance at being able to deliver a bigger baby without a c section.

she should be estatic to be carrying a healthy baby! i doubt that at 5 months pregnant the baby is actually 6 lbs already though, that's the weight of some full term babies. if he is actually 6 lbs, oh well. there's nothing she can do to pick the weight or height of her newborn. it's all in God's hands. be happy she can have a baby at all and a seemingly healthy one at that. she certainly cant CHOOSE to have a c section, those decisions are reserved for the doctor. if women could choose that as an option, i'm sure alot more of them would choose it because alot of women are afraid to go thru the pain of vaginal delivery. tell her to just chill out and be highly grateful, there's nothing she can do at this point.

Thats silly. If she is worried about pushing a big baby out then let me say that is not a problem. It feels the same whether the baby is 9 pounds or 5 pounds. There is not difference in the pain. I have had a 7.5 pound baby, a 8.8 pounder and a 5.2 pound baby. All the same pain. Tell her she is being ridiculous.

you cant pick the weight of your baby ...the hospital .will keep an eye on her if that is true ...but trying to do anything to make the baby a certain birth weight can possibly be dangerous to both mother and baby ... tell your friend to let her body determine how things will go ... and the doctors ... so they will be safe ...because really thats what should be the priority..

the doctoer will determine what is best for her. she should concentrate on having a healthy baby instead of having a small baby just because she is scared of a little pain. she knew what she was getting into when she layed down in that bed. maybe you should tell her to do the right thing and quit being a baby herself.

My doc told me I was having a big baby at 7months prego, my baby was almost 7lbs when born. It was the amount of fluid I was carrying along with the baby. Doctor's can be wrong and it's hard to take an accurate measure. Just tell her to relax and if possible get a second opinion.

Tell her that wanting an underweight baby is terrible! Many healthy babies are born at six pounds, but the majority need to be hospitalized and have problems.

She would be well advised to consult with her doctor before she makes any decisions about how to give birth. Even the tiniest women are capable of giving natural birth to babies well over 8 lbs with no problem at all.
