Ringworm is a fungal infection, and it is transmitted through physical contact. That's why you can get it and why it's not likely the finches will get it.
Ringworm will usually go away by itself over time, but most people prefer to treat it topically and not have to wait. It's not life-threatening and can be treated easily and inexpensively.

Probably. It isn't really a worm, it is a fungus. Your birds could probably catch it, but if you make sure you wash your hands after handling your cat and change your shirt before handling your birds you should be ok. Especially if you are already treating the ringworm on your kitty.
