i dont want to spend anymore than $150 so if you know any other metals that make just as good electrodes please sugest them

You need an "Inert" anode. A carbon rod is just as effective but needs to have around 10 times the surface area as Pt.
To get the Pt mesh you require will cost around $2000. US for about 10" Square.
A carbon rod will cost around $20.

dude you really don't sound as though you know what you are doing at all so do yourself a favour and stay away from this little experiment or you may get quite a bang out of the results
