wouldn't it make more sense and better for humanity if they became Catholics? After all Catholics are into pain, lots of pain so Mulims should like that but no one gets killed unless you count the alter boys that killed themselves because they were molested by priest and couldn't live with themselves afterwards but I don't think that counts?

Some Muslims believe that Shiahs and Sunnis are different kinds of religions, They aren't really. Overall they are all Muslim and they are all brothers and sisters. Some people just think differently and wrongly.

sunni and shia lived with each other for years. you don't see any of these killing happening in a muslim country except in Iraq. and God knows who is behind it.
