I have been using Head and Shoulders shampoo for the past 3 years for my dandruff, during this same time I have noticed an unprecidented amount of hair loss on my behalf. Could the shampoo be possibily causing this?

No, baldness is hereditary.

head and shoulders shampoo helps get rid off dandruff. You must not use it all the time. Try other mild shampoo. There is a oilment called mintop which good for premature baldness. You can buy it in South India. I heard from several people it's work. Try and find more out about the product before using it.

Well I dont think this is a normal occurrence, or else "head and shoulder's" wouldn't still be in business!! But you could be having an odd reaction to it! Best to change shampoo's just incase!!!!!!! Also it's best to switch up shampoo's everyonce in a while neways, it keeps your hair lookn better, i'm not sure why that is....but it's true for me, and i've heard other people say the samething. I always keep two different kinds of shampoo in the shower and I alternate use every week.
Also you might want to see the dermatologist if this hairloss is really getting to you, they might be able to help.

I'm not too sure about baldness, but it definitely strips the hair down. It's always recommended for when you want to get rid of a hair dye, or lighten one that's too dark.

Maybe there might be a connection.

Head and Shoulders can also cause more dandruff- it's a vicious circle. The shampoo clears all the dandruff and oils, and then the scalp over compensates and produces even more. Be brave and don't wash your hair for a week to allow it to rebalance itself.

Try a shampoo that's got protein in it, and use tea tree for your dandruff.

Head and Shoulders isn't a shampoo I would recommend. What I've noticed is that it's too harsh (for my hair, at least) and drying- which could be a factor in your hair loss.

Head and Shoulders also uses the 2-in-1 thing, no? That is BAD. Shampoo is meant to clean off dirt and excess oil, along with sebum (your scalp produces this naturally). Conditioner is meant to nourish and help your hair and scalp by returning protective elements that might have been removed by the shampoo. Combining them doesn't work well.

However, there are other factors that could be contributing to your hair loss, or be the cause themselves. Decreased blood flow to your scalp, for instance, in which case I would increase the amount of rubbing/scrubbing you perform when washing your hair... unless it increases the hair loss, or you believe it might be a factor.

if Head & Shoulders shampoo caused baldness, just imagine the number of law suits they'd have!

I'd say your baldness is due to other things

I quit Head and Shoulders for that reason. It was just too strong for my hair. I use Denorex now and don't have as much hair loss when I shampoo.

Hey,
Millions of people all over the world are affected by hair loss, and it's not only the males that suffer this condition as even females are affected by this problem. What's sad is that many of the individuals affected by such a condition end up just accepting what is happening to their hair due to lack of information or options.

I have naturally thin hair anyway but i did notice that after using head and shoulders my hair seemed thinner, i also developed a rash whenever i used it. My doctor said that i was allergic to one of the chemicals in it and that was causing my loss of hair and my rash.
