it may be the food. The top 3 reccomened brands are Iams, Eukanuba and Science diet. You could try that but be sure to give results about 2 months before you determine its working or not. Also a little oliveoil DAILY on the food might help, or go to walgreens and get a fish oil supplement and give it to her daily. Heck, she may just need a good bath so try that too! :-)

Diet is the greatest influence in your dogs coat condition. Since she is under a year old, be sure she is still on a puppy food. It is generally recommended to continue puppy food until the dog reaches one year. Also you may want to consider a puppy food specifically designed for your pets size, in other words possibly a food made specifically for larger breeds, the nutrient balance is different due to their size, weight and how larger dogs grow.

Be carefully when adding anything to your dogs diet such as eggs or oil, their digestive system can be very sensative and adding fats can cause diarreha in some dogs. If you want to add a top dressing check with your vet or go to a pet store, look for either 3V caps or Derm Caps, they are two of the brands the veterinary supply company I work for sells to veterinarians and are balanced for your animal. If you must give something over the counter in human form, consider a flax oil instead as it has a better ratio of omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids.

A good brushing at least once a week both removes loose hair and stimulates the oil glands and improves circulation for your dog.

If you wash your dog regularly be sure to a shampoo and possibly a conditioner that is made for your dog. Human shampoo strips too much oil from the coat.

Good Luck!

Keep giving her an egg (raw that is) once to twice a week and her coat would be fine. I did that for fifteen Years and my dog had a lovely coat lots of people commented on it.

We always gave our pups a few tablespoons of cod liver oil in their food once or twice a week. We also gave them a clove ( a small sliver) of garlic once a week too.
Is the pup getting enough fat in their diet? Too little can result in a dull coat.
We fed our show pups boiled ground meet with cooked rice at least three times a week too.
Guess that sounds a bit odd, but, I really think it helped them look and feel good.
Good Luck.

An egg once in a while won't hurt. Try brushing her. It will get rid of surface dirt and loose hair and it will help spread the natural oils through her coat to help make it shinier.
