I have a black lab too! He's an adorable 11 months old. He's the "man of the house" while my husband is gone. He barks at every "shady looking" squirrel and bird that might be making a threat to me or my daughter. He's got a bad chewing habit (we go through about $30 worth of rawhide bones a month) but he asks permission before he chews something new. He'll pick it up, bring it to me and drop it at my feet. Then he sits and waits for me to tell him ok or no.If I ignore him, he'll pick it up, drop it again and put his head on my lap. If I keep ignoring him, he'll pick it up and hold it while he proceeds to attempt to climb up in my lap.

A very intelligent Doberman Pinscher. When he was a pup and I was house training him to do is business outside, I'd get up every morning to find do-do on the floor.I scolded him a few times and next morning the same. Well, he loved his toys that I kept in a small box, so that last morning I told him, "bad dogs don't get toys", and I picked the box of toys up and put it out of reach the entire day. That was the last accident this dog had in the house!!!!Over the years we taught this dog to smell, believe it or not!!! It is true.Consistancely,we'd repeat a word and spell it, over and over.Eventually he learned what the spelled word meant. We'd spell candy,he'd nose the candy dish on the coffee table, ice,he'd nose the freezer which was at the bottom of the refridgerator(he loved eating ice).Spell park ,he'd go to the door because he loved to go down to play at the park. Spell walk, he'd get his leash. Last and most loveable, spell kiss and you'd get a big doggie kiss.I speak of him in the past tence because he has left my side, but still remains in my heart(big time). He has now gone on to Rainbow Bridge.I still have his female companion and two of their pups, which are now adult dogs, but he was the smartest dog I've ever had!!! I swear he was a human in a past life and came back as a dog!!!

I love this question!!! I have 3 dogs, 5 cats, 1 snake, 3 fish, & 4 mice. I have a Rottweiler named "Spike" who is 3 1/2 years old. He is the biggest baby ever :)!! He loves to just sit in your lap and never move. Spike is a CGC certified dog, meaning he has been through the AKC Canine Good Citizen test and passed it. He is trained in obedience and will do whatever it takes to please me or my husband. I have a yellow Labrador Retriever named "Hunter" who is 8 months old. He is extremely smart and LOVES to run & play. He knows how to retrieve (which is great considering what he is), sit, lay down, heel, and, cutest of all, beg. I also have a wolf sable Pomeranian named "Dexter" who is 11 months old. He is my spoiled baby. He goes to work with me everyday, sleeps in my bed, and has more toys than the pet store, lol! He knows: sit, stay, speak, & how to dance. I have a seal-point Siamese named "Cody" who is 4 years old. He only likes women and will go out of his way to attack a man in our house, even my husband :). I have another seal-point Siamese named "Carter" who is Cody's brother. I have a Snowshoe named "Romeo" who is about 5 years old. He was a stray that showed up at our house and *adopted* us. He got his name because he will get up in your face and lick you, knead on you, and won't leave you alone for nothing. I have a gray Tortoiseshell named "Cebrina" who is 10 years old. I bought her from a ratty old pet store when she was only 4 weeks old. Stupid pet store people actually sold them when they were that young and allowed the kittens to live in their poop without a litter box and she had an upper respiratory infection. I also have a Tabby kitty named "Little Girl" who is 1 years old. I found her stuck in our air conditioning unit when she was only about 6 weeks old. Poor thing was crying and hollering for help and couldn't get out. I have a Ball Python named "Jake the Snake" after the famous wrestler. He is about 4 feet long now and shouldn't get too much bigger. I have an Albino Oscar, a Plecostomis, and a Betta and also 4 mice.

Labs are DA bomb!!!!
I have a black and white tiger cat, 4 yrs old. He really has a wonderful disposition, he is very vocal; even as a kitten he was the one in the litter that cried the most. He also loves to play tag w/me; he does this really cute side step and hops; I should get it on video.
If you haven't already, you may want to check out a book called "Me an Marley" , about a Lab; although unlike your pup Marley was a bit challenged. lol

Let me begin by bragging on my yellow lab. His name is Duke and he was a gift to my son for his 10th b'day. I absolutely DID NOT want a dog then because it had not been very long since I lost both my beautiful and sweet rotty. When we went to our friends house who's dog had a litter ready to go, I was still very unhappy about the prospect of a new dog. I was sitting on their steps while my son decided on a pup when this fat, fluffy, wiggily ball of smiles stumbled over to me and lay down on my feet. I picked him up three times and put him back with the others but he just kept coming back. Fortunately, that was the pup my son picked out, because if he had not I think we would have ended up with 2! Since then he has proven himself over and over. He is a gentle sweetheart of a dog. He is wonderful with children. He also knows when I am happy or sad. If I cry around him, he cries with me. I just love him so much.
I also have two cats, both rescued. One from the pound and one from my front porch. Della came first but when I found Miss Pitty Pat on the porch she simply became her mother. I have a two year old grandaughter and she has been known to pick them up by their tails laying on them and dragging them around. Neither has ever tryed to scratch her even though they've certainly had reason too.
Well that's my pet's. I don't have enough room or time to tell you about all the wonderful things about them but, I do thank you for the chance to write a little bit about them.

I have a very demanding, good-natured brown lab, Jake.
I have 2 Rat Terriers, and 4 Chihuahuas. One 16-year-old Kitty-witty. In other words, I have a zoo!! I wouldn't have it any other way. I teach Kindergarten and cannot wait to get home everyday to my other "babies". I am happiest when I am with my dogs. They are so goofy, fun, and loving. I don't know what I'd do without them!

I have a Quarter-Paint Horse. My family got him at a horse fair. My sister and I didn't think we would get him-even though we fell in love with him as soon as we walked in his stall. So, imagine our surprise when we went for our riding lessons the next day to find our new horse in a stall, complete with a ribbon on his head. We've had Max now for 8 months, and we just love him to death!! He is a great horse for new to intermediate riders, which we are. He is so gentel, and great with kids. Whenever my five yearold Godson comes to the barn with us, he loves to get pony rides. I am sooo happy we have Max.

Border Collie. Smartest dog ever. Taught ME how she wanted to play with a frisbee. Stole donuts out of a box one time, then RECLOSED the box. Heels when I snap my fingers. Herds my son when he's crawling somewhere he shouldnt be (the kid's not crazy about that). Just smart, smart, smart.

All my animals are rescues of one sort or another. I have several cats, one of whom I raised from the day she was born (along with her mom) and she is the gentlest cat I have even known; she has never used her claws or teeth purposefully on me, not even in play. I also have one dog who is a "Canardly" (as in, you 'canardly' tell what breeds he is!) and he sometimes thinks he is a cat, eating cat food, rubbing on my leg, and cuddling next to me.
