vicodin is a narcotic analgesic or pain killer. It is not a good idea to take with alcohol. It is sometimes called Lortab or Lorcet. It contains hydrocodone bitartrate (the narcotic part) and acetaminophen (Tylenol). It also has a cough relieving effect. It is habit forming if used for long periods. Hydrocodone slows the nervous system. Alcohol intensifies this effect.

Wow I used to take 35 to 40 vicodin a day and that is the truth I was hooked on them for over 8 years and my tolerance was so high to them that was not enough. If you are taking vicodin know be careful that is how I started I went to the doctor for back pain and after that it was on. I lost a 26 year marriage and a great Business because of my addiction to pain killers they will take over your life and ruin everything. Don't make the mistake of I can handle it, newsflash you can't the with draws are horrific. It is a duel addiction when you get hooked on vicodin there is a terrible physical addiction and than there is the mental addiction and it will kick your *** like nothing you have ever delt with. Only after I lost every thing I got clean and sober and have been for over 3 years. All I can say is don't do it.

Yes, Vicodin is a painkiller made up of the narcotic, Hydrocodone, and the analgesic, Acetaminophen. Vicodin is prescribed for the relief of moderate to moderately severe pain. Alcohol and other central nervous system depressants may produce additional CNS depression when taken with Vicodin and should be avoided. The most frequently reported adverse reactions include lightheadedness, dizziness, sedation, nausea and vomiting. Overdosage including concommitant use of alcohol can lead to respiratory depression, extreme sleepiness, stupor or coma, very limp skeletal muscles, cold and clammy skin, hypotension, leading to circulatory collapse, cardiac arrest, and death. The individual who is using Vicodin with alchohol needs immediate medical intervention as well as a drug/alcohol treatment program. Good luck to you.
