Get a small humidor for about $25. Follow directions and they'll stay fresh.

What ever you do don't put you cigars in the freezer. Cigars are hydroscopic. That means they seek equalibrium with the humidity in their environment. Freezers dehydrate anything left in them for any length of time. Putting cigars in the freezer will ruin them faster than just about anything else you can do. To keep cigars fresh, you need a humidor. The goal is to keep your cigars at about 75% relative humidty. This will keep all the components of your cigar fresh. Cigars don't go bad, per se. They dry out. The way you can tell if a cigar has dried out beyond being smokeable is that the wrapper starts falling off when you cut the end. Once a cigar has reached this point, it's almost impossible to bring it back to a smokeable condition. If you don't have a humidor, then only buy cigars in such quantities that you will be able to smoke within a week or so. When you finally buy a humidor, look for one that seals tight. A loose fitting lit will not hold humidity in well.

DO NOT PUT YOUR CIGAR IN YOUR FRIDGE.

They will indeed lose all of their moisture. The Cheapest way to keep you cigars at their perfect humidity levels is simple:

Put your cigars in a Cooler or a sealed tupperware container. They are often called "coolidors, and tupadors" They work fine.

To keep you humidity consistant, buy what's called a Boveda pack. You can get them at any decent Cigar shop and they come in various sizes and cost about $3.00. These packs are the best invention ever...They are a 2 way humidity control system, so when the levels get high, they absorbe the humidity when it is getting dry, it dispells humidity...Not bad for 3 bucks.

I have these packs in ALL of my humidors and I have over 5,000 cigars, so I know what I am doing.

Also, you may want to add a baggie with some baking soda in your coolidor, this will absorb any odors that your cooler already has.

You will be pleased with the results.

Do not keep your cigars in the refrigerator, it will suck out the moisture content of your sticks.

Proper cigar storage is crucial. If you do not store your cigars properly you may encounter some of the following problems: uneven or too rapid burn, harsh or bitter taste, broken wrapper, difficulty lighting or keeping the cigar lit, mold, and –oh horror of horrors!- tiny holes in your cigars, a sign of tobacco beetle infestation.

You can prevent these problems by keeping your cigars below the maximum temperature of 73°F (23°C) and between 68-74% humidity. Ideal conditions are 70°F (21°C) and 70% humidity.

Choose a humidor that is large enough for the quantity of cigars you wish to keep and that has good construction and a tight seal.
