Wasn't it really a call for Jews to defeat the Romans? Has it been misinterpreted over the ages to represent Armageddon as the end of civilization? It was written about 60 years after Christ's death and the Christian Jews were waiting for his return to save them from harsh Roman rule. Isn't this the truth?

GREAT QUESTION. REVELATIONS IS WRITTEN IN AN APOCALYPTIC STYLE, LIKE GEORGE ORWELL'S ANIMAL FARM. GEORGE ORWELL COULDN'T COME RIGHT OUT AND SAY WHAT HE REALLY MEANT ABOUT COMMUNIST RUSSIA, SO HE WROTE IN THAT STYLE, AS TO BE UNDERSTOOD BY THE MASSES, BUT STAYING UNDER THE RADAR, IF YOU WILL, OF THE BIG GUYS. IT WAS THE SAME FOR JOHN AND REVELATIONS, HE WROTE IT WHILE A PRISONER OF ROME, OF COURSE HE COULDN'T COME RIGHT OUT AND SAY WHAT HE REALLY WANTED TO, THUS REVELATIONS WAS BORN.WHY PEOPLE WOULD USE IT AS SOME SORT OF PROPHETIC GUIDE IS REALLY SAD. DON'T PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THAT EVER GENERATION THINKS THIS IS THE END.

No, it was not a call for the Jews to defeat the Romans. It is about the last 7 years yet to come before Armageddon, and yes it does speak of the first Caesars including Nero. It speaks also of Rome returning as also spoken of in Daniel and the Statute his iron legs and then the clay feet with ten toes representing the revived Roman Empire. Also the city of the seven hills (Rome) and Babylon which Rome was also refered to as.

Revelation has been misinterpreted in hundreds or thousands of different ways.

Most clearly, it provided assurance for Christians that their tribulations and sacrifices would not be in vain.

Prophetically, it may indeed predict the events of the end times.

Nobody knows for sure.

God did eventually save the Christians from harsh Roman rule, first, when he changed the heart of Constantine, the Roman emperor, and later, when the Roman empire was destroyed, and Christianity became the most wide spread religion in the world.

No telling what God's going to do next.

It was not a call for the Jews to defeat the Romans. But it was, IN PART, about Emperor Nero and the destruction of Jerusalem in 70AD. It is also about the Catholic Mass, and the future end times.

absolutely NOT look at revelations 1:10 the Lord's day this is the time period revelation is talking about. To find a biblical explanation of the Lord's day go to Isiah 2:12. This new light of truth should answer your question. Also some more references to this day are ! Thess. 5:2 2 Thess. 2:2 and 2 Peter 3:10

The Book of Revelation (no "s") is a singular revealing of Jesus Christ, past. present, and future.
In it, Jesus reveals Himself to John, and John writes to share the vision.
Follow the "in-book" outline:
