I use Clone-DVD to backup my DVD's on my laptop for viewing while I am traveling. It is not free, but has a free 14-day trial. It's a great program.

Yes, Use AnyDVD in the background. DVD Shrink to copy the DVD Files to your Harddrive, then Nero to burn the DVD Files to DVD Media. All are free to try for a period and if you like them, they are well worth the money to buy them!
