--Is Catholic--
They are typical hand-built, designed, and decorated by each individual. The designs are typically governed by the type of structure, particular themes, particular saints, and traditional popular piety.
Inside the house, it can range from a table, a shelf, and alcove, an oratory, to a full fledged chapel.
Out in the yard, people might place a statue or two, or construct a shrine or a grotto.
If you are looking to "buy one", what you need to do is consider first what aspect of Catholic spirituality that you want to bring out? Are you looking for a pious way to display your collection of icons, do you wish to have a private oratory, or do you wish to honor the BV. Mary with a shrine? Once decided, you can do your own research into how others have been done, or talk to an informed Catholic such as a priest or an individual who runs a Catholic gifts store.
God Bless

RW is correct in calling it a shrine. It's usually just a piece of wall with pictures, perhaps a shelf or table as well.
There is no specific rule about how a home shrine is to be constructed.
Of course, some rather magnificent ones have been created over time, as with triptyches and closeable cabinets.

check on line or at various hardware and home goods stores. are you talking about those for outside or inside? i'm not sure of any for inside the house. only those set outside. inside mine just hang prominently on the wall or stand beside, before and around!
