No it is not bad. You just sit on the toilet and after you take the paper off of tampon just push it up in you and when your fingers touch your woman hood take the cardboard applicator out.(Tampax Pearl are the best because they slide in very smooth)

As a young teen, I find it best to just use the proper pads that fit your period loss until you've had your first sexual experience; only then is it best to use tampons. You can always try, by looking at the directions on the tampons box, but you may not be able to do it. AND, maybe you're not even ready? Hint: do anything ONLY when you're ready! It'll truly be best.
Hope I answered you! : )

Hi girlie.
If you are iffy about using a tampon, don't! :) Just use a very thin pad. I prefer always with wings.
Take care!

when you start out ... use the smallest ones you can! get plastic applicators! and when you put one in be CALM put on foot on the toilet and one on the ground. Hold it by the ridged grips on the applicator and only push it in until you hit your fingers then push up the end, pull out the plastic and you are good to go!

It's not badddd, but I would say you should learn. They are SO much easier and more comfortable, and you won't leak all over your clothes.
