i just jammed my finger last night around ten or something. i woke up this morning and it was swollen.. but it wasn't extremly bad or anything. how long will it be swollen? will it continue to get worse or be worse tommorow. how long before it gets better? i know i'm going to the doctor this week.. i just can't get there right away so i was just wondering if the swelling is going to get worse and maybe what could i use at home besides putting ice on it? do i need to put a bandaid on it or what?

You need to keep ice on it as much as you can to keed the swelling from growing larger. Ice slows the process of swelling. It will be swollen for about a week or so, it will gradually go down and down until it is swollen no more. If you keep ice on it it shouldnt get bigger or more swollen. It will be better before you know it trust me. Only put a bandaid on it if it as an exposed cut. If you put a bandade on it, it will cover the injured area from healing our getting fresh air! Hope my answer helps! Good Luck!

How long it takes to heal depends on how bad it is and to some extent, your health.

Keep putting it in ice for 20-25 minutes when you can. Nothing else you can really do. Until it heals, if you need to use it again and fear it getting jammed again/more, try taping it to another finger (assuming its not your middle/longest finger).

Likely in a few weeks you won't even think about it.

Don't put anything like a bandaid on the swelling it make it more painful..Ice it..Even hold it upwards so the blood can flow away from the swollen part...
