Hello all,

Trying to get an idea how much a new carpet will cost... including fitting. I have no idea about carpet, but would probably choose midpriced stuff (not cheap/not high end).

The amount of carpet I need is... enough to cover a normal staircase and 3 square metres in the hall (that's 2mx1m + 1mx1m, not 3x3).

Does anyone have any idea?
Thanks

Most carpet comes in 4 metre widths so you need to draw out your hall stairs and landing on a squared piece of paper making the size of the squares 10 cms.you should be able to work out how much carpet you need. We had a carpet fitted on stairs hall and landing and it totaled26 feet in all it cost about £400 but it was a good carpet with top underlay. I know it cost more per square metre to fit hall stairs and landing than a room. We went to several big well known places and found the prices differred quite a lot

You need to go to a shop that sells carpets, as we have no idea how per square metre you want to pay, in the UK it can pay as little as £3.99 a meter, or up to £50 or more, just go to the shop with the size of the room and they will work it all out for you, Fitting it is about £50, plus parts

YEP I would put aside 250 squid for this. But shop around, go to one of those carpet dealers that have "off cuts" because you could reduce the price considerably. If you are on a tight budget I bet you could get it done of 150 if you shopped around.

to get the best value and long term use out of such a carpet, buy either an axminster or a wilton patterned carpet... very easy to maintain and look after.. never shows dirt and debris between hoovering and very hard wearing... if you shop around you can get the carpet fitted for about £300, good luck
