The multinational companies that own these products want to use the same name in all territories so the brand is recognisable everywhere. That's obviously much easier if a product is called the same thing in North America, Asia, Europe and everywhere else. If something is hard for some people to pronounce - the 'j' in the old Jif is a good example - then the name will change to something more universally appealing.
It may seem annoying but it's essential in a global economy.

It's so we'll call it the same thing. Like it so hard going to another country and getting the sweets if it's not called StarBust (stupid name). The one I really hate is when JIF (ok not a sweet but u know what i mean) became CIF!!! What kind of a word is cif?

I think they do it so our sweets/chocolates will fit in with the rest of Europe, where everything gets called by different names. Can't see the point, though. Nice to see I'm not the only one who gets annoyed by this.

Cuz World has gone crazy.. They are looking for new exuses how to waste there time.. Only few sweet decent words were remaining they started changing that too.. lol..

The name change is to fool us into thinking we are buying something new so sales go up for a while. Cant think of any other reason for the name change.

Dont know but i agree its utterly ridiculous, I think it could be because they think we are idiots and by remarketing something we will be lead to believe it tastes different or it has improved but its all just Blx , and what about veet!! everyone knew immac,

i remeber when snickers was called marathon, i still cant get over the stupid name snickers!!
and opal fruits, well my daughter once chocked on one and still calls them chocking fruits (lol)
