I think he would make an interesting subject for a film, live action or otherwise. It will be one-sided, of course, and paint him as a saint instead of bringing a balanced view of the pontiff's life, but that's not really surprising. Even Sir Richard Attenburough's magnificent film portrait of Gandhi didn't show him beating his wife, though it did hint that he was capable of treating her a bit harshly.
