There is no nice way. The nicest way is being straight up. Don't make up any excuses because you think it will be easier that way. Your honesty shows that even though you don't want to be with them anymore, you still have respect for them.

first don't just keep dragging the girl/boy on get the courage and sit down and talk to them. Don't use the line "its me not you" think about why you cant really be with this person and make sure its a good reason not just something you made up. If it is a stupid reason why your not getting along with the person your with try talking it always works and make sure when you decide you don't want to be in the relationship with the person any more don't leave behind hurt feelings or nasty words just because your not intimate or together with that person doesn't mean they still cant be a great friend. many ppl are quick to turn nasty when they get desperate and want out just remain calm an remember good times with her/him not the bad ones there no point on wasting time on bad memories when you have a chance to think of the good ones.

Just be honest, not brutally that their feelings will be crushed but If you are not happy in the relationship it is best to just be honest and tell them how you feel. Let them know that it is better apart then in a unhappy situation. Sometimes peole just need time apart to realize how they really feel. Good luck.

There no such a thing as a 'nice' way. Just tell her that it isn't working out and she's free to go her own way. You don't need to be an @sshole, but you shouldn't sugarcoat it either. Be honest.

make sure you have a darn good reason. and find a time and place to do it. dont make a scene. you yourself need to think things out and make sure. once you break this persons heart, it will hard as heck getting them back once you destroy their vision of what they see as being happy.

if you seriously cannot move forward with them, not progressing...then you need to be properly prepared to let them down as nicely as possible. have notes if necessary. but have adequate reasons, and dont fumble over your explanation. be real, be honest, and yes it will be hard, and it will will hurt you both. but if you feel strongly enough that this relationship is gong nowhere...then you need to say so and why.

No matter how you say it...nice and sweet or otherwise, they are going to take it to heart and be heartbroke. Come straight out w/ it, at least out of respect.

uhm, tell her things aren't working out....don't drop that "we're better as friends" line b/c that line sucks! state the reason why things aren't working out and tell her that you hope that you guys can still be friends, b/c you really care about them (if it's the truth). good luck!

Talk to this person privately and just be honest explaining that you no longer want to continue in this relationship. Be truthful but please also be very gentle because you want to cause as little pain as possible.

Be honest, straightforward, and true to yourself. It will hurt, but they will get over it and move on. Life goes on. . .
