Does anyone have any home remedy suggestions for persons with severe congestion?

This is advice I received from my ENT specialist: As annoying and gross as it may be, try not to blow your nose. Just hold the tissue under your nose and let it drain. Blowing your nose inflames the sinus tissue and causes congestion. You can also try "pulling" one side of your nostril out a little bit and LIGHTLY blow. That will separate the sinus passage walls a little more and make a light, slow blowing a little more bearable.

Fix yourself some hot peppermint tea(or put peppermint oil in hot tea too. That is my favorite remedy.)

Hope you feel better!

This isn't a home remedy but you should go to your local pharmacist and get sudaffed. It works pretty well. It has to be purchased over the counter and you have to be 18 to buy it.

Steam works good and also, saline or distilled water. You spray the saline up your nose and it works its way through and pushes the flem out.
