I've just been to London. Eng. and the Chocolate there is way better. Other than paying extra for the good stuff like Rogers, Lindt, Purdeys etc. (in BC), what other options do we have?

That's a good question, because until about 5 years ago, British chocolate was not allowed to be sold on the continent as chocolate because it contained too much cocao butter and not enough chocolate. Therefore it was considered candy, and not chocolate

Having spent the first 18 years of my life in Swindon, England, and the last 16 in Halifax, Canada.....I'll take Canadian chocolate (Ganongs, Moirs, Laura Secord) over English chocolate any day. After all, it is chocolate, not candy!

In Canada to call something "chocolate" there's no minimum cocoa content, so usually it's between 0.2% and 5%, in most places in Europe the minimum is at least 20%, or you're not allowed to sell it as "chocolate". Canadian chocolate is mostly edible wax, food-colour and flavourings. I'm a German chocoholic who lived in New Brunswick for a few years, had to get people to send me care packages. Live now in England, if you send me oreos and Kraft dinner, I'll supply you with real chocolate! :o)

You can get British imported chocolate (Cadburys) in most speciality candy shops in Canada.

I agree, British chocolate bars taste much better, my favourite, Curly Wurly.

Canadian chocolate is a lot better than that garbage they make in England. That stuff was so bad that we (mainland Europe) made the British call it candy! And it wasn't even good candy.

Heck...........it's a lot better than anything Hershey's makes!

its funny because english chocolate(cadburys ) is the least chocolatey of other countries!- why! because there chocolate is a mixture of milk, cream, meaning less cocoa and to some a bad thing because cocoa is what chocolate should be . also it is a matter of taste. the refined prefer there choclate dark and rich.
