His punishment included making him go in to the nursery/toddler room 1 sunday and apologizing to the staff. He came back and told us he needed to either do chores for them for an entire morning and if he refused or gave them a hard time then he should maybe spend the rest of the time there as 1 of the kids so he could see what it was really like to be a baby and maybe he would think differently about what he did. Is this reasonable punishment?
Is it fine for him to have to wear diapers during the day? Should I change him then?

If you make him wear diapers as punishment, you might as well put him in prison because he will be a serial killer one day for sure.

I dont think that making him wear diapers is a good punishment. What did he plan to do with the diapers? I think the humiliation of being caught doing something so ridiculous is punishment alone. I can be harsh, but that is punishing the day care helpers as well. I think a better punishment would be to take away 13 things of his that he uses on an everyday basis for 1 day, and see how he feels. Then make him work by cleaning toys and disenfecting the nursery until he earns enough money to buy a bag of diapers, and then he will learn that they arent cheap!

I think it is very reasonable. He could have been given a lot worse for what he did. He is lucky it was a church nursery instead of somewhere else that may have reported him to the police or something like that where his punishment could be more severe.
Maybe if he has to go to the nursery and be treated as one of the kids he will know what the consequences of his actions would be.
I would hope he would learn a valuable lesson from the experience and maybe teach him some responsibility.
I would also ask him why he wanted the diapers. Does he want them for someone that is needy and couldn't afford to buy them? In that case then he just needs to be taught how the church deals with people that have that and other types of need.
If he wants them for himself to wear then you need to figure out why. Does he have a problem and need to wear them or does he have a desire to be in diapers again? He may have too much stress in his life and wants to go back to a time when he didn't have to worry about anything, back to when he was in diapers and every need was taked care of for him and he didn't have to make decisions.
Talk with him and find out what is going on in his life, it sounds to me like you may be out of touch with him a little bit too much.

Huh? Your 13 year old son wears diapers? Your question is not very clear. If he has a medical problem then wearing diapers is a must i suppose, but if he is just wearing them for no reason...he might need counseling! As for a punishment...you did the right thing by making him apologize, he would also be grounded for a while for stealing if he lived here.

No. It's not okay to make a 13 yr old wear diapers... that could really damage his self asteem, and if it gets out, it could ruin his social life. I'm sayig what he did is okay, but a different punishment should be thought of.

It's good you take him to church! The fact that your at church makes it easier for him to learn a lesson. Everything even those diapers belongg to God. Stealing is a 10 Commandment, Let him know everyone sins butwe can and must face up and repent when he's ready. He'll be all right, just dont overact. Kids are kids, but at leat your in church. kudos. and God Bless. Also take a timeout with your pator, both for you and him.

No..he shouldn't be wearing diapers...you don't need to humilate him...just teach him that what he did wa wrong and he be appropriately punished by doing chores etc.

ITS FAIR THAT HE HAS TO DO THINGS FOR THE CHURCH BUT ITS NOT RIGHT FOR HIM TO HAVE TO WEAR DIAPERS FOR A DAY. THAT IS CRUEL AND SERVES NO GOOD PURPOSE. YES HE SHOULD BE MADE TO DO CHORES FOR THE CHURCH. I SURE HOPE THAT YOU DO NOT THINK HE AHOULD BE ALLOWED TO GO FREE AND NO PUNISHMENT.

Why did he want them so bad? He obviously wants some to wear, so diaper him up, do it
in front of his siblings .
