Sony. I have the Cybershot 7.2 megapixels one and it has given me no problems at all. I've had it for 6 months. It's easy to use and the picture quality is very good. My sister also has the cybershot 6.1 version and she's had it for two years. No problems whatsoever.

First, what's your budget? Second, what exactly are you looking for? a compact digital camera? a DSLR like digital camera or a true DSLR digital camera? Also, what's the primary use for it? I agree with Dr. Sam above, you can't really say who's better unless you know what you are looking for. What consider the best for me may not work for you at all. If you want to do some research and/or comparison, check out this website [www.dpreview.com]. It has a lot of helpful information as well as sample images that you can see for yourself. Have fun shopping.

Better Brand

Which car is better? Chevy or Ford? Porsche or BMW? Mercedes or Lexus?

If you are "not a pro," perhaps you would do best by going with the recommendation of your local camera shop pro or a friend who has something that he/she likes. If you have someone who is willing to help you learn how to use a particular camera, add ten points to that brand in your decision making process.

I think you should go for either Sony or Olympus.
I have a Sony Cybershot 5.1 Megapixels camera. Its sleek and stylish and is very light. Sony has one of the very thinnest cameras in the market.

I would say Nikon. Nikon has been at the top of the list for many many years. My dad has his, and he's had it for over twenty years now. He and my brother also have new Nikons and they both love it. The quality of pictures and reliability is absolutely brilliant. I opted for a more quicker, aim and shoot camera. I have the Olympus SP 350. It has eight megapixels and is amazing. Overall, if you're looking for more semi-professional cameras, go with Nikons. If you want point and shoot, go for Sony's, Olympus.
Hope this helps.
