Have you seen or read The Manchurian Candidate?
Fellow LDS members are gently forced into the beliefs. Some things we do willingly are mandatory for them. It is called indoctrination. and they do it well. this is why, when missionaries come to my house, they have blank faces and beads of sweat, asking if some else can schedule a visit. I am polite, but persistent ini showing the contradiction. Talk about Johnson, talk about Smith or Young. Go deeper into their lives and see the real people.

Mormonism is just like any other faith based on Jesus Christ--they believe the Bible, contradictions and all. For example, in one part of the Bible it says that Noah took two of every animal, yet in another part it says that Noah took seven of every clean animal and two of every unclean animal. Which is it? Which one is right?
Mormons are brainwashed into thinking that the Book of Mormon is the end all and be all of scripture. Sure, they use the Bible, but not very much. The Book of Mormon is the truest thing to a Mormon, and you're not going to change that, just like you can't change a Fundamentalist Christian's view on the Bible.
The point is, in all Christian religions, there are contradictions that the Christians swallow whole, never thinking about them. Perhaps you should look into your own religion's contradictions before pointing the finger at Mormonism's.

You will need to provide evidence of the supposed contradictions, because we don't see them as such. The Book of Mormon does not contradict the Bible. The idea of multiple gods is not in the Book of Mormon so it isn't a contadictory issue in the text. Basically Isaiah was telling the rebellious Israelites that God Yhwh was the only True God, and the gods of the nations were only idols.

My understanding, from LDS (Mormon) missionaries and visits to Temple Square in Salt Lake City, is that they believe the KJV "as far as it is correctly translated".
Joseph Smith, their first prophet, began the translation. However he died, rather suddenly, and much of what he believed to be his work was left unfinished.
I have asked why a future prophet hasn't finished the translation and have received differing answers. Brigham Young was too occupied with getting everyone to Utah and then establishing that community is the first one that comes to mind...the gist seemed to be that none of them have been called to finish the translation in the same way that Joseph Smith was.
The body of their scripture includes the KJV Bible, the Book of Mormon, Pearl of Great Price, and Doctrine & Covenants.
The last three take precedence over the Bible.
I don't know if this answers your question or not, but this is my understanding from more than one missionary.
I am not LDS, so I am sure one who is will come along to "clear-up" my answer. ; )

We do not believe in things that contradict the bible. We believe in things that contradict the way others interpret the bible.
We sometimes refer to the Book of Mormon because we believe that it is also God's word and, therefore, scripture.
If you have a specific question about a specific doctrine, I would be more than happy to try to answer it. Please contact me.

We DON"T contradict anything in the Bible, YOU believe we do. YOU have a different interpretation of it than we do. All things in both books can be cross-referenced back and forth with the other. And we do believe in the bible...just because you believe different things we do doesn't mean we don't believe in it. That is like me telling you "well you don't believe exactly what I do so you must not believe it at all."

I to date, have not read the book of Mormons, so I would have to presently plead ignorance regarding what it says (or does not say). I can tell you that there are several times the 'Bible' says opposite things (example; having patience and diligence), not because they 'contradict' each other but it gives us the 'freedom' to do either.

Those mormons, altho I suppose there are probably good ones & bad ones they are a bit out of touch. They completely believe in this prophet called Joseph Smith, supposedly he is the only "Prophet " to have spoken to God & Jesus himself, Mormons believe the book of mormon cuz Joseph rewrote the bible & the book of Mormon to what God really meant. I mean ~ really??!! A lot of people claim that. But u must trust your own gut. There are a lot of contradictions, but there is quite a few in the bible also. But what is good feels good, the love is clear in any religion. They do believe the bible ~ but a "revised" mormon version of it. I love the free will He gave us, to choose what feels right. Just know love & faith is the way to God, NO RELIGION needs to tell you that. :o]

I can't believe this---This question is about the Mormon religion--why is it that people STILL choose this question to continue to bash the Catholics? A person with any kind of intellect would wonder why this is and they would come to the same conclusion---there must be something to the Catholic Faith to cause this much animosity to it. The truth has a way of doing that...

Be a friend first then ask questions until you find one of those and ask how they can believe both of those. If they persist love them and leave them alone. God does not need you to teach them until after they accept the Jesus in the Bible. If they are saved, practice prescribbed behavior, and love the God of Abraham then do not worry about the rest. Now we see in a mirror darkly so do not think you see everything more clear than another.
