We have had 5 and all of them suffered from this. I want to know if other owners also find this a problem.

Spay incontinence is very common when they are spayed young, I have seen many bitches with this problem. If they were not spayed young, I would look for a better Vet.

I've had four dogs spayed in the past and not one ever had a problem with incontinence. Even the dog I have now was spayed when I adopted her at 8 weeks of age, and I've heard that spaying so young can cause incontinence, as well, but she can hold it for an eternity.

Also, my dogs weren't Setters either, so I don't know if this common for that breed. Did the same vet do each spaying on your dogs, because if he did, I wonder if the problem lies with the vet or the breed.

Sorry, I know my response wasn't much help, but I just thought I would share my experience. I'm sorry you've had to go through this so many times.

No, but I have a boxer who had the same problem, I got her spayed after her first season and she has been slightly incontinent ever since. She is now 9 and has been all this time on very expensive hormone drops. They do help a bit but not completely....
