Let's have a look at some of the christian areas in the world and see why they are christian.

Europe

Christianity becomes entrenched as part of European culture as a result of Constantine's wishes.

Africa

European christians invade Africa, kill hundreds of thousands, enslave others, steal land, destroy local traditions and beliefs and replace them with christianity.

North America / Australia

European christians invade, steal land from the native population, nearly wipe out the native population and then come in such droves as to come to completely dominate the area after several generation.

Central America / South America / Phillipines

European christians invade, kill hundreds of thousands, enslave others, steal land, destroy local traditions and beliefs and replace them with christianity.

The spread of christianity worldwide doesn't quite seem as glorious now does it ?

Islam doesn't fare much better.

When I consider the historical reasons behind the spread of Christianity I see it from a different perspective than you do. What I see is a holy God working through imperfect human beings to save mankind from their sins.

You post the "headlines" of the secular historians. What you don't see are the individual lives behind those headlines. You don't see those small details of love and charity or the changed lives that were salvaged from the wreckage of sinful men bent on empirial conquest and selfish desires.

Today Christianity is growing most rapidly in areas like Africa and China. People who are suffering from disease and oppression are finding new hope in Christ. While I don't expect you to be able to see things the way that I do as a secular humanist, I do hope that before you leave this earth you will come to know the truth about God and mankind.

Secular humanism seems to think that if we just come up with a new and improved self improvement program for humanity and if we can just get enough people to jump on the bandwagon while we look to science and education to improve our standard of living then we will be on our way to a brave new world as human beings gradually "evolve" into more moral people.

History shows that to be a pipe dream with no basis in hope or fact. The reason for that is because people are sinners who are enslaved to their selfish natures. Sure, there are a few people who seem to rise above the crowd in every generation that are not associated with the Christian religion. But those are the exceptions and not the rule. And if you could see inside of their hearts you would find that they are just people who sin on a smaller scale than the majority of the population.

God is saving people one person at a time in a way that isn't obvious to most people. The Bible says that the human condition isn't going to get any better until Jesus returns. That doesn't absolve us of the responsibility to do what we can in the mean time. It just means that we should face the facts and not be looking to other imperfect men and women to solve a problem that only God can solve.

Get your facts straight, sir. Plague and sickness wiped out more native Americans than any other single cause. True, the diseases were brought here by Europeans, but it had nothing to do with Christianity. More people came here looking for land and freedom in general than freedom of religion. Speaking of freedom, the only reason you have freedom today is because good Christian men that believed in freedom of religion, as well as freedom in general fought and died to keep these freedoms. The same freedom, sir that allows you to sit there and talk your foolish talk about things that you have only a dim understanding of.

No you lack the knowledge of the fact that Islam did not spread the same as Christianity,

Islam was spread by the word:

People in Spain embraced Islam and welcomed them to be freed from the oppressive Catholic church.

Look into Indonesia and Malaysia, how did Muslims reach there? in Indonesia there are 100 million Muslims and Arabs are a minority, plus the muslims were not experts in sailing, so how could they have invaded Indonesia?

Think about it! you neglect the facts and rather believe speculations and false conclusions from your master (Media) and the church.

Yes. But: don't make the mistake of applying the bad "religious component" solely to people who commit atrocities. It's not something inherent of religious people, all people, including the "atheist" Genghis Khan (at least in the beginning) have committed atrocities. And what about Mao, Stalin, etc.?
People have misused religion and they will keep misusing it (e.g. killing in the name of the Muslim God).
You don't have to be religious to do these things. There are for more stronger motives, like hunger for power, wealth, jealousy, and other human sins. It can be just a natural human, secular characteristic. Welcome to Humanity, religious and secular!

What stopped the Mongols? They were pushing into europe and no one could stop them. Khan died and they could not pick a successor, there. They had to go back. What stopped the Ottoman empire. Catholics? No, people who did not want to live with them. Romania, Bulgaria.....

Not all Christianity was spread by war as not all wars were caused by Christianity.

You're making a lot of assumptions. Such as...
"European christians invade Africa, kill hundreds of thousands..."
What proof have you of the death toll?
Aren't we purporting fact to our own agenda, dear?

Christianity is about the heart not the flesh. It's not political. True, these advancements in Christianity were done but one cannot become a true Christian until their heart has changed, not their culture.

The spread of Christianity happened for the same reason that Wicca is now spreading so quickly. Because people are unhappy with the estalished religion, feel it's lacking, and need to replace it with something so they feel spirtually sound.
