no, that would be an offering.
but your giving is between you and the Lord.

Your tithing is your contribution to your church and that goes to the charity works of the church however, you may probably report that you have given a friend in need that may consider as part of your tithing since the purpose is the same. In fact, you can even report that to IRS that would probably give you some discount favor provided that the gift is legitmate and warranteed.

Absolutely not.. Tithing is giving your 10% to God.... for his works.. In order for him to bless your home and income.. Giving your 10% to someone other than the church is removing this blessing and the whole point of tithing.. then its charity.. which is a great thing.. but completely different.. If you can only afford one.. I would tithe and pray for God to bless the others you would like to give money to .. but cant afford..Maybe God will bless your money where you can afford to give more..

In the US charitable contributions are regualted by law. Consult the IRS rules and CFRs to see what can and can't be deducted, however they 10% rules is pretty flexible.
Some people who DON'T GIVE A RED CENT use it.
It doesn't make it right or legal, but if the IRS don't care, why should you!
HOWEVER, if I'm not mistaken you have to ITEMIZE to get this
That means you have to have over $7,500 in other deductions to itemize or you have to take the STANDARD..

No, that is just being charitable and that's a really good thing. For tithing you give back your first 10% to your church to support the ministry.

What kind of tithing is it? Is it a religious belief like in Judaism we give ten percent to charity, not to churches or things like that, but sure I don;t think there are rules to it. I would if I didn't have enough money just to give to them out of my pocket.

I give what God puts in my heart to give. One of the old testiment laws was to tithe 10%. We are not under those laws anymore. As long as you do it cheerfully. Pray and ask God what he wants you to give each month and He will tell you.
Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Cor 9:7

I believe it is considered tithing. My "thing" is I don't give 10%. To me a specific amount is another bill. I give what I can and sometimes it is more than 10%, sometimes its not. Either way, whatever you decide to give, God repays you ten-fold. (not necessarily monetarily)

You are not under obligation to tithe. That was Mosaic Law for the Israelites not for Gentiles or Christians. You can tithe if you like but it not required, if your church tells you it's required they are not following Christian Scriptures.

In the Catholic Faith they recommend 5% to church and 5% to charity but, the Church also knows that it will vary according to someones needs at certain times.
