What verse is this?
Why don't you contemplate on "The Parable of the Sower"
Gospel According to Saint Luke
Chapter 8
5 The sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.
6 And other some fell upon a rock: and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it had no moisture. 7 And other some fell among thorns, and the thorns growing up with it, choked it. 8 And other some fell upon good ground; and being sprung up, yielded fruit a hundredfold. Saying these things, he cried out: He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. 9 And his disciples asked him what this parable might be. 10 To whom he said: To you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to the rest in parables, that seeing they may not see, and hearing may not understand.

Fishbiscuits and MarvinR helped you to understand.
One grain of wheat has little value. But if you put it into the ground and it “dies,” it germinates and in time grows into a stalk that produces many, many grains of wheat. It was similar with Christ. He was one perfect man. But if he dies faithful to God – which of course he did - he becomes the means of imparting everlasting life to faithful ones who imitate his spirit of self-sacrifice. Jesus produced lots of fruitage by dying faithful.

Apparently you are referencing John 12:24.
Basically,it is talking about focusing on 'dieing to self' (not physical death) and focusing on Christ (bringing forth fruit).

I see you forgot to mention where the verse was located....But here is how I see it...The 'wheat' is Christ and He must die before we can become Christians..He 'alone' as the sinless perfect sacrifice , could die for our sins...Under condemnation of sin all of us are dead to God all are imperfect decaying grains of wheat...without His dying we could not have eternal life imparted to us .basically it was the necessity for one man to die so all could gain life...and it is located in John 12 : 24.... and Jesus ofen taught in parables.. and they are hard for us as humans to understand at times . but if you do not take the verse out of context and read all the verses pertaining to it...listed before and after .....I think it will claify all verse for you...

Die means to stop living for yourself & your own goals/ambitions. A grain must endure the death of winter. In Spring, it bears fruit. Same with living for G-d; when you die to yourself & live according to His Word, you will be fruitful & productive.

If it stays attached to the plant, no new plants are grown. If it falls to the ground, it grows a new plant with hundreds of new seeds.

It means that Christians are intended by God to live lives of self-sacrifice, "dying to self" on behalf of others, that others may also find eternal life.
