Me and a friend are going to visit Canada. I am 17, and when I was 15 I got charged with petty theft. (I was an idiot then). Do you think they will deny my access because of it? (it is the only thing on my record, and the only thing thatll EVER be on my record)

Also, what all is needed? So far, I know a photo id and a birth certificate. Anything else??

The last time I went, you only needed a photo ID. Now they probably require a passport, which I did have & would leave on the seat, where they could see it & ask for it if they wanted to see it.
They will ask your name & where you are from & if you are a citizen, & how long you will be there & why you are going.

I heard on the news the other day that passports will be required to visit Canada, but I am not sure when that law is being instated.

Its only photo ID and birth certificate to get into Canada -- its actually the US that is going to make it harder for us to get into the US (passport) and not the other way around. Homeland Security, blah, blah, blah...

Canada is pretty eager to keep US tourists coming over so there's very little motivation to make it difficult for y'all to come over here and spend your money ;-)

If your flying you might want a passport, if your not flying that should be plenty for you. I doubt canada even knows you stole something if it was petty theft, so don't worry about it. (This is assuming your a US citizen)

No that about covers it.
No passport is needed to go to Canada.
Only if you are traveling with one of your parents, the other one has to write a letter of permission to travel out of the country.
