.Re:appearance, the best thing I did was to find a down to earth Mary Kay lady who was able to teach me a lot about begining with healthy skin, how to create a fresh, clean look, and picking colors right for me.
Anyway, I have blonde (the most porous) curly hair, and beside a good quality shampoo & conditioner, my best bet is Focus 21 Skin and Hair Plasma. It is a humectant, which means that it draws moisture to bind to it & thus to the hair. Even after swimming, this stuff is the difference between that charming little haze of frizz or having smooth, shining hair.It is a light, clean -smelling pump spray, and also the best healing & soothing agent for sunburn and really dry skin .Just be sure to shake it really good. My current best shampoo & conditioner are both made by Nature's Gate, a more natural brand available at Longs & at many Health Food Stores. Also at Safeway Abba moisturizing shampoo and mint conditioner have given me great results. Make sure you are rinsing shampoo & conditioner out for at least 3 minutes (I need 5 minutes) each, and follow the last rinse with the coldest water rinse you can stand for 1 to 2 minutes at the end-smooths the hair shaft & leaves you with incredible shine.Ask a beautician for a recommendation of good shampoo & conditioner-initially they cost more, but work out about the same cost in the end as you need less. Because they are broken down to a smaller molecular structure during their creation, they are able to penetrate the hair shaft instead of just riding on the surface like the bargain brands. Ask for samples, ask people with similar hair what they use, and don't give up! The right s. & c. make or break it big time!
If you have been processing your hair in any way, give it some time off, about a year even. The results you get as it has a chance to heal & repair will leave it looking better than it has in years. Also I use no "products" of any type, and I don't blow dry ever-both really fry and frizz my hair.
Drinking lots of water, 2 litres/day and eating 5 servings of fresh produce along with plenty of protein will do wonders for your hair and complexion by moisturizing and nourishing from the inside out.Taking good care of your skin with twice daily cleansing & oil-free moisturizing will give you the beauty that you need as a base for the glam looks you want. Have you ever noticed how the people who's looks you admire tend to have healthy skin?Bottom line is that the better care you take in your eating and fitness, the more it is reflected in a beautiful body, skin & hair. You feel your best and it shows.
I used to read Seventeen magazine religiously, and I learned a lot re. using facial masks, what types of clothing styles most flatter my physique and cover my less desirable traits, etc., maybe something like that, or my current favorite, Shape, which focus' on real life ways to grow your beauty quotient from the inside out by taking good care & motivating a person as to how to do so.Also learning my colors-whether I am a Winter, Spring, Summer, or Fall was a major step toward wearing the colors that bring out the best in my skin tone, bring out my eyes, etc. Makes clothes shopping a lot less hassle too, as you just pass over the colors that don't work for you & go staight to the ones that make you look your best. Orah's show re. fit of jeans, bras, & such are excellent, maybe check out her web site.
And last but not least, have you noticed yet that the truly beautiful people really are beautiful from the inside out, which includes an active relationship with their Maker, regular time spent inThe Owner's Manual (Bible), and time in prayer instead of getting pulled down by unaddressed fear, worry, etc. Not trying to preach, just passing along what happens for me. Take good care and enjoy the process, I hope this was a help =)
