I purchased a 07' Shelby GT500 about two months ago. First if it is new, most cars have bugs that have to work out and covered by warranty so who cares. Mine doesn't lose control, well, they can if you don't drive it right. It is a mustang not a Nascar, so don't drive it like you stole it. Drive it like you should and you will have no problems.
If it is used, just have it checked out before you purchase it. Most dealerships will allow you to have it checked by a mechanic you trust. This is the third mustang I have had, I like it. Other people that don't like ford or the mustang will tell you that they are junk.

My dad retired from GM he used to say no matter the manufacturer don't by one that was built on Monday or Friday. Monday who cares if they are there and Friday well all they care is in a few hours they are out of there for the weekend.

If you keep up on mateince like youre supposed too and don't beat the living hell out of it, you won't have problems. My 89 GT is very reliable and has never left me stranded anywhere. The driver loses control, not the car. Those Mustangs have a good amount of power and if you don't show respect for it, it will show you who is boss.

The driver is the one that loses control. If you buy a new car, any problems will be covered by warranty for 3yrs/36K. The S197 has been around a couple of years now and many bugs have been corrected from early 05 models. The car is worth every penny. There isn't a day go by that I don't get comments or have an import owner rev his engine at my car.

Hell no. It's not true. I have a 1989 ford mustang gt and it never gives me problems. I LOVE it. It's bad as hell but they are not to be played around with at all because they are really fast.
