No, not normally. It depends on what your disability is. You have to pass a physical, physical agility test, written test, and psych test. If you don't, you don't get hired. You can get a non-sworn job (CSI, police aide, dispatcher, etc)

If you are already a cop and get hurt, some departments will give you a desk job so you can keep your pension and sworn status.

There are specific requrements for a sworn police officer,

Being able to run a mile in a certain time based on age,
you have to lift a certain amount of weight, pull a dead weight a certain distance.

And will have to complete a very hard training that will include self defense, using various weapons and the such.

So a perosn in a wheel chair can't be a sworm police officer and a person with one leg could not be one.
You have to have specific vision in both eyes so you can't be blind, and you have to have specific hearing in both ears.

But they do have disabled people who are dispatches, who are property clerks, who may be office workers and the such

It depends on your disability- you can probably do office jobs but to become a police officer you have to pass a physical that involves being able to do a certain number of push ups, pull ups, etc. I don't think they would make exceptions for disabilities.

i would think so there are some job qualifications that have to be met. you would not want to put your life in danger if you can't run or defend your self. field officers start there career in the field.
but remember you always can be a dipatcher or forensics.
don't limit your self go out and try. there are officers that have disabilites it how much you will let then hinder you . good luck

A police motor vehicle, ambulance or fire truck can block something it needs. A incapacity isn't an Emergency and the emergency isn't desperate by way of all of us however the dept those automobiles come from and the assement of the driving force. they could additionally park their motor vehicle on any assets on the city... even inner maximum assets in the event that they want, even your front backyard. this is no longer trespassing. this is with regard to the citizenry's protection. you need to bypass to the supervisor of Police or the Mayor in the event that they're doing something that's no longer "coverage." yet breaking a regulation, no. the only regulation that protects you is unreasonable searches and seizures by way of the fourth modification. they could't take issues which you own or seek you without reason. only like they do no longer look to be allowed tochronic 10 miles over the value shrink in maximum states, isn't a regulation, it somewhat is a coverage and the coverage states at maximum police departments that it somewhat is omitted if there is coming near near dying pending. i will enable you to already know that this is no longer sensible to ***** to the police branch except you have a reason or an criminal professional is doing it for you. they are going to aim you. only like the FBI... in case you request to work out your FBI document, they are going to supply it to you because it somewhat is a regulation risk-free by way of the form. despite if, in the event that they don't have a document on you, they are going to then start up one. to no longer intimidate yet for their own protection. BTW, i could like to work out your criminal professional win if so. i don't have self assurance it even for a 2d "even in an emergency." only keep in mind next time you're robbing a financial employer tochronic down the disabled ramps. the fire branch breaks out motor vehicle domicile windows to place their hoses by way of to maintain from snaking them around automobiles that are parked in the way. and that i'll enable you to already know this... they won't pay on your broken domicile windows the two. Your coverage could, yet no longer the fire branch.

Don't see why they shouldn't... Not everyone in the police chases bad guys.

They turn down applicants with IQs too high in most states, however.
