My golden loves grabing my old shoes especially flip-flops. It's ok. I don't wear them anymore, but why? What is it about shoes that has him so attracted?

Your scent. Plus my golden likes to put anything soft in her mouth like slippers, socks, stuffed animals. Your dog might like the texture of the flip flops. My dog doesn't chew on these items, just carries them around.

I read somewhere that if a puppy is given a shoe to play with when it was younger, it will look at a shoe as a toy for life.

i would say its because you put them on your feet before taking your dog out for a walk so dogs associate shoes with walkies. also its an item we generally leave lying about on the floor at home.
