Well out of all the armed forces...i think you picked the best one...my next pick would be Coast Guard...and no you are not stupid, who cares what people think...just don't join army, marines, or navy...maybe then I would think you were stupid...The Air force is the safest during the time of war and nothing against army, navy or marines...I feel for them in what they have to go through right now...

The stupid thing would be NOT doing something that you have wanted to do since you were five and then saying,"I wish that I had joined the USAF when I had the chance." There is nothing wrong with a military career. Some enjoy it enough to continue for 20 years. If, after four years, you decide that the USAF was not for you, then you can get out and proudly say that you defended your country, unlike some that fiercely criticize everything from the safety of their home using the freedoms that you defended. You will make friends that will last a lifetime and have experiences that many will only imagine. Carry on with pride the fine traditions of the USAF and your country.

if you dont care what others think, then yes, you should not have asked. joining the military is a very big deal. you need to have the right reasons. its not like joining the bowling league down town, or joining the local boy scouts.
you need to to do some research, and go visit your local air force recruiting office and ask a lot of questions.
it is a wonderful opportunity, yes, it is a great life changing experience. however, you need to be prepared, its not going to be joy ride.
serving your country is a great responsibility, and a great honor. make sure YOU know what you are getting into, because once you are in, you are in.
it is an honor to wear a uniform that represents our country, which represents, freedom, peace and hope. join, and be happy you did, instead of regrets.
join because YOU want to, and know what you are getting into. do not join having no clue what it is all about, and want to turn and run. be upfront with your questions at the recruiting office.
you are obviously old enough to make life changing decisions. pray, think, ask questions. when you have all the answers you need, positive or negative, then base your decision on that-information.
Good luck.

Why would you be stupid for this decision.
I was an AF brat since I was like 3. I grew up in the AF lifestyle and a month after I turned 18 was in BMT. I love every part of it. You get to travel the world, meet some life long friends, and you get training in highly technical jobs.
When I came in at 18. I was working Command and Control for nuclear missiles and planes. How many 18 years have you known to do that. Now with my security clearence and training I am set for a great paying job on the outside. 5 years later I am now a SSgt and I have a Associates degree in Information Systems and a Bachelors in Criminal Justice Computer Science.
Looking at all that does the decision seem like a stupid one. In the end it all comes down to what you want but I will let you know that no matter what others may say the AF is a great way of life...

Congratulations Jozef,
Whether you realize it or not, you have made a life-defining decision - and a good one. I joined the AF when I was 17, and I cannot begin to enumerate all the ways it changed me and how the training I received has guided my decisions in life.
Above all else, you will find kinship with other military everywhere, and in the US join a group of people whose ethics and moral standards far exceed those of the general population.
Good luck and best wishes,
Bob

Not at all. Many people benefit greatly from their time in the armed forces.
Just go in with your eyes open. You may at any time be sent to a combat area for long periods of time, and perhaps even more than once. You may be sent on a deployment in a conflict that you do not believe in.
As long as you are OK with that, I'd say your decision is a fine choice.

It is a free country and you have a right to do this if you are acceptable to the Air Force. It is no one else's business what you do. I think it is a good move for you but who knows what the future holds?

Is this what YOU want to do? When you go to bed each night, nobody else is going to worry or care about your decision, other than parents and loved ones. You have to make it your personal choice.
If this has been your dream, do it. I believe any dream that persists is a God given "sign" not to sound hokey, that that is what you should do.
10, 10, 10
Will this decision matter in 10 weeks, 10 months, 10 years??
Go with your gut!

That is a good thing. My dad was in the air force. It is safer and needed to protect the country. You should go for it!

What you hear is organic and utter crap. each branch of the militia is the two good. no person is going to call you a wimp for turning out to be to be a member of the Air rigidity, aside from contributors of alternative branches probable. it extremely is an extremely good branch.
