the repopulation of the planet would have been with that of incestuous offspring, at least in the second generation, which increases the chance of death before reaching a reproductive age, and surely is a sin.

sorry the question:

does this make the whole flood somewhat pointless? a new start forcing sin.

If the Noah's ark allegory were true, (and surely it isn't) then mankind would have degenerated into a gaggle of inbred retarded, incompetents. Oh Wait, Christianity does exist, so maybe it's true for them, they just got the story wrong about the whole world being flooded, maybe it was just Noah fell into a puddle once and decided to exaggerate.

Well as far as the biological/genetic problems you describe, I'm not sure. Although it is worth considering that the worlds population at thime would havwe been minute compared to what it is today and the gene pool would therefore be much smaller as well.

As far as sin is concerned, at the time of Noah then whole world was consumed by it, which was the reason for the flood in the first place. It all occured many many years before the law of God had been given, so incest may not have been a sin. The people of the world lived ony by moral law.

Also you need to consider that the whole population of the world began with Adam and Eve and their offspring, so if there was no problem there then why should there be one for Noah's family?

bear in mind that the ppl on the ark were Noah & his wife, and his three sons and their wives. therefore inbreeding was only at a cousin level. i think the Bible's view of incest does not extend out this far.

as said b4, clean animals by sevens, unclean by twos, more genetic varriation. incest between animals not really a sin as such. as for the dieing out thing, maybe that's wot happened to the dinosaurs (those on the ark and their descendents, the rest being killed by flood http://www.answersingenesis.org/docs/2.asp )

notice also that ppl after the flood started to die sooner than the antediluvians. was this due to incest? maybe.
also bacteria etc may have spead across the world in water, or may have multiplied in the ark.

did Noah's sons not help him build the ark? also he took a right while at it.

where do the no.s of Adam's children come from, coz i'm prety confident they'renot in my Bible.

So we are all descended from Adam and Eve, as the bible says, making us inbreds! Then the flood comes along and Humanity has reached a point where it has overcome all the faults of in-breeding and allowed humans the creative genious to build an Ark to hold all the world's species - amazing! And now we are all inbreds from Noah's family, right?

Does this explain chavs?

in response to the adam and eve answer, when they were cast out of Eden there were people outside it.

Although your question would explain why animals except turtles (who live linger than us and can swim) dont live too long

Although thinking of it, by the time Jesus came to this earth mankind should have been a jibbering mess if a result of all incest but then he died so so all of mankinds sins would be forgiven then miraculously everybodys mental issues disappeared along with the 3rd legs and infectous diseases.

So hmmm an argument for and against

Yeah, Old testament crap.
Noah built the Ark right, on his own, yet it must have been about 900 foot long, like the Titanic or bigger, to hold all the animals, Unless NOAH was an acronym for Northern Oman American Holdings, and their shipbulding operation it just did not happen , did it.
Old Testament is Fiction. Christians beleieve in Christ, the New Testament, which largely supplants the Old.

Back in Bible times, it was pretty common - incest that is. You may read it quite a bit. That was before Jesus and is in the Old Testament - Jesus is the new covenant. Actually those people were under the Law and spoke directly to God and God dealt with them accordingly - we are not under the Law, we are under Jesus Christ and His teachings now. It does not give us the right to perform incest or any other sinful nature now - we don't do that in our culture. I hope this helps.

According to the bible, Adam and Eve had around 134 children and they all married each other because there were no other people on earth.

Allegedly ... Genesis 6:21: "you're to take all kinds of food that's to be eaten and keep it away as food for you and for them." so they saved away a super number of food (nevertheless with the intention to maintain that plenty meat from rotting, it could have been salted).

The bloody religious types will give you some drivel about how this wasn't the case and the bible says this and that. Great question though, I have to agree!
