To the person who said above that Google's translator is "perfect", this is LAUGHABLE. If you want proof, type in a paragraph or two in English (or your native language) and then translate it to another language. You don't even have to know the second language. THEN...translate it back to the first language. A "perfect" translator would give you back your original text or a very close approximation of it. I did this with a couple of random paragraphs. The recipient would never have a clue what I had been talking about!

Now, in response to the original question: if they are basic, common phrases (like "Where is the bathroom?", "May I have a glass of water?", "I love you", etc...) you should have some success with a spanish phrasebook or website with phrases for travellers. If you are trying to translate anything more complex, though, there is no substitute for a real person. Your best bet is to find a spanish-native speaker who is fluent in english. (For translations from spanish to english, look for an english speaker fluent in spanish.) My first language is english, so my translations TO spanish are still a little rough, but I'm pretty decent so feel free to contact me through yahoo if you want some help. :)

Google has a wonderful translator. Go to Google.com and then click on tools, and then at the bottom click on traslator, and then type in the English sentence, and choose english to spanish, and it will translate perfectly.

There are tons of translators, such as Yahoo! Babelfish, www.freetranslations.com, and http://www.appliedlanguage.com/free_translation.shtml.
However, most of these translations are kind of fuzzy, as they don't come out exactly what you were trying to say. Your best bet is to have somebody live, either through forums or somebody you know or yahoo answers or anything...however, these translators are faster.
