No one can give you a specific answer for your question.

Maturity, balance, home environment.... all of those things should be taken into consideration. Generally by age 5 or 6 (which is what most people on this list seem to agree upon) most of those conditions are right so that a child can take responsibility for his/her own cleanliness.

Most kids that can sit in a bath or stand in a shower can learn to wash up. As long as the conditions are safe (anti-scaulding mechanism on the faucet, open, lit bathroom) you should let them try to clean up by themselves. Of couse, until they really understand the hazards in the bathroom, you need to be careful especially in the bath. Little ones can drown in just 2 inches of water!

If your question is really -- "at what point should you stop cleaning a child's private parts" -- the answer is -- if you are not comfortable or the child is uncomfortable -- STOP. My 3 year old prefers to use a washcloth herself -- and she's capable so I don't interfere. She knows what is private and understands not to put soap in her private parts. She does need help with shampoo & conditioner....and I help her wash her back too. My 6 year old is completely self sufficient -- but I have to remind him to go back in and wash his hair.

When you're little you forget!

As soon as they can walk and balance themselves rather good with experience.
That means ages 3-4.
At this point, they can shower or bathe by themselves after being shown how but should always be supervised until they're much older.
If you teach them early, they'll be more experienced in washing themselves properly. But, always be next to the tub incase!

*Edit— 6 and 7 is way too old for children to still be bathed by their parents. I started kindergarden at age 4 and I was washing myself with the supervision of my mother!*

Oh for heaven's sakes! some human beings genuinely ought to loosen up. they are infants! there is not any ought to make a huge deal out of this, they have been in simple terms enjoying and clearly are not conscious of 'private components' yet. the three 300 and sixty 5 days previous is maybe getting to the age once you may clarify that his penis is private and no-one else ought to touch it, yet do no longer turn this into an argument whilst that may no longer. i do no longer see something incorrect with bathing 2 youthful infants mutually in spite of gender they are. My brother and that i bathed mutually till he become approximately 7 and that i become approximately 5 and the only ingredient I undergo in ideas approximately it quite is using the lower back of the tub as a slide and as quickly as looking it hysterically humorous that he have been given into the tub without taking his vest off! Lol. to this point as i'm conscious we on no account did something irrelevant, as we were used to a minimum of one yet another's bodies on condition that we've been infants so as that they weren't a novelty. we are actually the two adults, the two married, and the two have good jobs, so I hardly ever think of that having baths mutually as quickly as we've been infants warped us for existence!

I have a 6 year old, a 4 year old, and a 3 year old. I no longer give my 6 or my 4 year old a bath. I simply stand from a distance and watch to make sure the do it properly. It's best to teach them when theya re real young.

When they can do it their selves. I think my daughter was about 4 or so, maybe younger then that I helped wash her hair and she did the rest, and now days they have those washcloths that are the gloves that they can do it their selves. My son stopped taking baths about age three and took showers and again he washes himself and I help with the hair.

as soon as they let you know, if the child is old enough to hold a bar of kiddie soap and can wash themselves then it is time to begin to allow them ofcourse with supervision to bathe themselves. My 4 year old is a pro at it all I have to do is recheck some lil spots t make sure there clean and dry her off. Try it buy a kiddie non slip soap {johnsons}and it will be fun for them.
