bread or a roll is key factor in a good sandwich. if your making a sub the lettuce should be shredded not cut or torn apart.fresh veggies are a good thing. not ones that are cut up and left in the fridge for a day.a good provalone cheese or swiss cheese is good. for ham and roast beef subs.

this heavily isn't a deli sandwich, yet you'll get the beef at a deli counter and basically throw it jointly at abode. A Spanish beef (pernil) sandwich on white bread with mayonnaise and dill pickles tastes fairly strong.

Bakery fresh thick rye bread. You could slice it yourself in front of the class (if a bread knife is allowed in class).
Show how spongy rye bread should be.
Next is Grey Poupon type mustard - something with lots of bite. Spread it lightly on both pieces of bread.
Flourish the slices of swiss cheese - look thru the holes at your audience.
Next scoop out (with an ice cream scooper) some sweet/sour cole slaw onto one piece of bread. (Note to your audience that this if veggies and fiber!)
Now get your medium thickness sliced corned beef (the king of deli meat) and slap on too many pieces. If your sandwich isn't at least 3" thick it isn't real deli.
Place second piece of bread (remember with its own mustard and swiss cheese) on top, Wrap in butcher paper and slice into 2 large triangles. Place on plain white plate with the insides looking out (the crust points in towards the center of the plate.
Reach into bag of chips and put two handfuls on plate.
Grab deli pickles (2 already sliced) and push onto side of plate.
Gently toss/twist plate onto table in front of audience with a napkin and a can of Dr. Brown's Cream Soda with straw and dare them to eat it all at one sitting!
Good Luck.
