they never seem to sell anything to do with sheep? apart from haggis that is from a sheep! .......poor little lambs! and they dont sell much calf but they do sell cow????? ant idears on that peeps??? love ya all!!!!!!

because the meat tastes like crap and they grind it with the fat from another animal, usually a cow, to make it taste better.
you can't do that with a steak.
Ever have a veal cutlet? That is calf meat...
A lamb, calf, sheep, horse, pig, buffalo, elk, deer or cow is an animal.
Animals are for food.

Meat from sheep is called mutton, and has a much stronger flavor than lamb that most people do not find to their liking. Quite a bit of mutton is still eaten in the British Isles, but that area of the world is not renowned for their food! "Calf" is called veal in the grocery, and is quite commonly found.

Sheep-Mutton contains a lot of fat in the form of tallow. Most people find this texture unpleasant so very little mutton is sold to be eaten that way. Lamb doesn't contain as much fat so the slick/chaulky/ wax taste is not as noticable.

Sheep meat is called mutton. Cow meat is beef, calf meat is veal.
