and why do i see all other religions to be the same, does god (the whole reason for religion) not premote peace and respect for others , all religions are based on past events ?, we/you have no "real" proof of the existance of god anyway ?, so why get violent if someone has a different opinion to you, but does not force there opinion on you.

Because you're looking at the actions of extremists who use their religion to justify murder and assuming that represents the religion itself. If you actually look into what Islam teaches and what a vast majority of Muslims believe and practice, you'd see that Islam is a peaceful religion. But, like a large number of people, you watch the evening news, pick up sound bytes from the radio, and make assumptions to come to inaccurate conclusions such as this one.
I'm not trying to attack you, but it is annoying that you'd post a question like that here instead of actually using valid resources at your disposal to learn about the unknown.
Religious zealots have used the "word of God" to justify all sorts of atrocities in human history. Look at the teachings, not the misguided who turn peace into war.

Because it is... just as any other religion is. Religions are about holding THE Truth. And about denying the existence of other truths. In order to do this, they NEED to be violent. Christianity had a period of extreme violence in the Dark Ages, with the inquisition, the crusades and the 70 million native Americans killed in the name of god. They've had enough with that for a long time. They may afford to look pacific now, because they've already set the basis of their domination. Now it's the Islam's turn to try to dominate by means of violence. So you see them as violent and selfish. But they all are.

Without research, everything we know about Islam is bad because of what the news tells us. If you think about it, the only things we hear about on the news are bad things- murder, rape, terrorist attacks, war... If you really want to know about Islam, you need to do some research of your own, and dont judge a whole nation of people by a small minority.
Not all religions are the same, and it's individual choice whether you believe in God or not, but I know some things just wouldnt make sense if I didnt know God.

OK one more time! Because of the things we see in the news. If it is not so, then Muslim leaders need to come out against the violence. But THEY HAVE NOT! Only a small number have said anything to the contrary, and non have shown it by their actions. Or at least if they have, the news outlets of the world have not covered it! So some one is wrong here. Who is it? The Muslims or the news reporters?

Because all we hear about islam is the violence and narrow mindedness.
I am sure that most of the followers of islam are normal people who dont agree with violence and just want to get on with their lives.
Unfortunately, it is the extremists who make the news so we only see one side of the story.

I think that before you make your final decision as to whether or not Islam is evil, you should do some research, maybe try and read the english translation of the Qur'an; then make that decision as to whether or not you actually think it is that kind of a religion.

Maybe because you have never gotten to know one personally. I have and she is the most peace loving person I have ever known. She also does more for charity than anyone I have ever known. I hope you have the opportunity to know someone like my friend.

Because not a day goes by when we do not hear of a mass of killings by an Islamic person.
