I have been in church services wher demons have been cast out of people.

They are not a myth.
The Exorcist is based on real event (or at least real people who claim they are real events) and they have happened before. The Catholic church must send priests to investigate the situation to determine if it is truly a demonic posession. In more recent years the church has declined to perform exorcisms, because they are very dangerous for the person being exorcised. I have never been a part of one. Officail church ordained exorcisms are extremely rare.

An exorcism is the casting out of demons. I have regularly witnessed and participated in them in church. The Jesuits make a big deal out of them, but in the holiness churches they are quite common. the danger of an exorcism is that the demon or demons can jump from the patient to the preacher. It is no work that a novice should involve himself.

I know a large number of evangelicals make their living by performing exorcisms and traumatizing the people afflicted.

Yes, I have seen many self-proclaimed Christians manifest. Most scriptures pertained to the believers of their day. Many were healed and delivered of unclean spirits. Can a Christian have a demon?

I have seen and heard one on tape--and for those who do not think Mary is anybody you should have seen and heard the reaction to her (the Rosary) by the evil one.

I've seen someone rebuke a demon out, but it wasn't as dramtic as the movie, but yes they really do exist.

but i have studied cases that were alledged possesions , only to find that there were various other reasons for the behaviour
