well the dogs aren't necesarily trained that way..the owner has to know where they want to go and how to get there...you just don't say to the dog "ok take me to the burger king down town" the owner has to know where to turn where to catch the bus....the dogs job is to protect the owner from harm...when the blind person wants to cross the street they don't know when the car is coming but the dog does and the dog will not cross the street if there is a car coming...the dogs are also there to prevent the person from running into things....It's possible for the dogs to pick up the route but you can't always rely on the dog to get you every where..you have to know where you're going..

Good answer from the trainer, not sure if all dogs are the same but the one I got to know very well (ex girlfriends) got to know the usual routes and could take her there such as the university, bar and the library. But she had to know where she was going in order to familiarise the dog with the routes. She did it by counting steps curves etc. She did tell me she could switch off on the usual routes and leave the directions to the dog, he didn't always get it right though, one evening she wanted to go to the library but he took her to the bar, could be something to do with being an unusual time for the library who knows

The dogs do not probable know the place the owner is going. the owner has to nicely known the place to bypass, the dogs is in simple terms there so as that they can circumvent hindrances like holiday risks, keeping off human beings etc. The dogs isn't there to grant the owner guidelines.

A well-trained dog makes everyone happy, including his owner. Take a little time training him, and you'll never regret it; you'll always have an obedient dog by your side. Find more https://tr.im/aIpsV
By their nature, dogs are pack animals with a well-defined social order. Through basic training, you need to consistently make sure your puppy understands that you are the leader, not him. So in teaching him the basic rules, you take on the role of pack leader.
To fit into the family circle, your dog must be taught to recognize his name and such commands as come, heel, lie down and sit.
