Yeah, tattoos hurt, but it all depends on your personal pain tolerance. I strongly suggest that you find out from various sources what yuour tattooo actually means before you get it done, because often the tattoo artist will tell you a symbol means something when actually it can mean something else entirly.
If you don't want to go through the pain, here is a recipe for a painless, semi permanent tattoo:
1. Paint the design on with India Ink.
2. Spray liquis band-aid over top of the design
3. Reapply often
It really does work, I have loads of friends who do it.

It is odd that one would get those languages if they're not religously connected, but NOT uncommon at all. I have done plenty of Hebrew words on people that looked through a flash book and was like "gimme that, I like the way that looks".
Here we go,
One rhetorical question...
Do YOU think having ink pushed into your skin with several needles over an extended time would hurt..? :-P
Everyone's pain tolerance is difference. What I may think hurts maybe not hurt to you. Everyone uses a comparison, but I have not found one that I found fitting to describe getting a tattoo. Tattoos can hurt, burn, or sting, everyone feels it differently. But I can safely say that YES, Tattoos hurt, but they're terribly bearable, and terribly worth it. The pain is not that bad, especially in the spots you want them in, and only the first five or so minutes are bad, and then your endorphins and adrenaline kick in, and it's not so bad. All of it hurts, but the MOST painful kinds of areas are places over bone, thin skin, sensitive skin, mucus membrane areas (yes, like genitals on inside the mouth), and places with a lot of nerve endings present... (ie. ribs, chest, sternum, fingers, palms, lips, face..etc) Go for it, anyway. You can take it...and most likely want more...
Most of all. If you love it, don't care what other people think. If you don't love it; reconsider or redesign.

Wow, what an original and thought provoking question, it's only asked about 20 times a day. No, they don't hurt, sometimes its a little cold when they spray your skin with water and rub the tattoo on. This is how they do it right? Hold on, I heard something about needles repeatedly penetrating the skin, now that might hurt.
Since you can't read either of the languages, maybe you should get something else original, try a butterfly.

it depends on if you can atke pain or not! i had my first tattoo and i got hooked! It hurt but not like i thought it would hurt! It was more annoying to hear the sound of the machine! It's the weird buzzing sound that sucks to me! I like all my tatts! I'm gettin 2 more before this year is out! Hebrew tattoos are really stupid because in the religion Tattoos are not allowed! But do what you like but make sure the characters you get are really what you want and you should know what they mean! it would be stupid to get words because you like how it looks! Look them up and see what would like for it to say!

I have a tattoo in the small of my back of my name in Arabic. It hurt when the guy was outlining. Especially when the artist was going over the spine. But I just cliched my teeth and concentrated on my breathing and that only took about 15-20 min. The shading just tickled. And no one thinks that's it's weird that I have my name in Arabic. It's a language spoken by millions of people and isn't considered religious. But I just like tattooing my name in different places on my body.

people get japanese tattoo when they are not japenese or japnese decent, if it is important too you then why should someone else criticize? and yes tattoos hurt. the black outline will hurt more than any coloring you get. it also depends if the area is tender ( like the area under your arm) or if a bone is close to the surface (hipbone) im getting my next tattoo done on my upper back by my shoulder blade and not really looking forward too the pain it will cause but it is worth it. also make sure you have the appropriate soaps and lotions before getting it done, dont wait till after (should have a colorless odorless vitamin a+d oinment and color and odorless soap) follow the recommendations of your artist for care instructions also prepare for the area to be tender for a week or two...needs too be left uncovered for at least a week

I have 12 tats on different parts of me and some were more uncomfortable than others & some I even feel asleep. My experience the closer to the bone the more pain. I have some on the back of my calfs & those didn't hurt until they got close to the nap of my knee. Depends also on your pain tolerance. Some artist have a numbing cream they can use AFTER they do the outline - just ask them before hand just incase you can't handle it.*** Get what ever it is that YOU want & don't let others make the decision for you. It is your body forever not theirs.

Yeah it hurts. Some people get the tattoo in order to concentrate on the pain. It can drown out the whole entire world, at least for a little while.
oh BTW: I have 6 tattoos and 5 major(2GA or bigger) body piercings

Yes, tatoos do hurt. I'm guessing that they only hurt for a few hours or more. My teachers get tatoos. My Social Studies teacher's whole arm is covered with tatoos. I don't think he would have gotten so many if they hurt that badly. Maybe whatever you write on your tatoo shouldn't be that long. And don't think that ur weird for wanting that kind of tatoo because i've seen worse.

Sounds like you need to wait to get a tattoo. Tattoos should be meaningful. If I had 10 cents for every person with a stupid zodiac sign, Chinese symbol or tribal thing I would be rich! Sounds stupid to get a random thing in a language you don't even know anything about. Come on, didn't it sound stupid as you were writing this question? Anyways, yes they do hurt and they are PERMANENT - so think about what you want etched into your skin for the rest of your life. The end
