Hmm, I think I might be trying to make another one of those points I keep talking about, wonder if EVERYONE will get it,

something however tells me 99% of the atheists agnostics are going to get it and 99% of the non-fundamentalist religious people are going to get it and 99% of the fundamentalist christians are going to tell me I need Jesus.

Religious beliefs ARE of a selfish nature, since they're all by definition, the claim that you and only you know, hold and have the truth, and everybody else is doomed for not having the truth. And so you're entitled to impose THE Truth on the others who are by definition wrong. Besides, when you're out there in the world, you meet people who claim (for the same principle) that THEIR Truth is THE Truth. So you get defensive of your Truth. And they get defensive of theirs.

And atheists/unbelievers are defensive of our liberty 'from' religions, because we hold the truth that there is no god, so we claim our right to live without the influence of religions. And since religions (by definition) are invasive, we are defensive, and this makes us selfish, too.

So, yes. We're all selfish when it comes to religions.

Yes everyone is selfish at times. If we weren't the human race would not have survived as long as it has. It has helped us to survive but with time and modernization we realize we don't need to always be selfish any longer. It's a part of us just like our hair color, eye color, etc...

Ah yes, the human condition.
Selfish at times, other times downright provocative in our self-preservation.

The Bible affirms your line of thinking...
Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
10 I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

I think you're right - we all have selfish tendencies.
Jesus is helping me with that. (Had to throw Jesus in to the answer - special for you!)
